This is an abandoned cemetary deep in the woods down an abandoned logging road. I happened on this while looking for old kaoline mines for fossils. I just happened to stop to take a leak and barely caught an upraised hand in the distance an

d just a hint of a wrought iron fence. This has the grave of Hayden Hughes consort. The writing on the consorts grave stoicly proclaimes that "here lie the remains" and the word consort is plainly visible. What is unusual is that the more ornate grave has a mariners them and religious symbols such as a cross are noticeably absent. The wrought iren posts have somewhat of a cross but given the lack of markings on the tombstones I'm thinking that this was not purposely ordered but rather what was readily available at the time. This is a very peculiar place and it has been calling me for some time to come capture the imagery of this place.

A Catholic cemetary on the island. Note the elaborate nature of the graves. I find thsi shot particular interesting because you see a Japanese Shinto arch at the entrance, thus combining elements from two very different reiligions.

Powązki cemetary, Warsaw, Poland

This small cemetary has been overgrown for years....Some local Boy Scouts recently cleaned it up...my daughter and I stopped by yesterday and took these photos...some of the headstones are so worn with time you can barely read them...I have zoomed in and gathered as much info as I could to identify them...

Oxford (Botley) Cemetary is one of only 12 site in the United Kingdom to feature a STone of Remembrance. Designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, this architectural feature us usually reserved for cemetaries with more than 1,000 burial. The cemetary also features a cross of sacrifice, designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield and a shelter building, designed byb Sir Edward Maufe. This grave is of an unknown German soldier.

The Taos Pueblo people honor their dead inthis cemetary. It was a beautiful place. One Indian man asked us for our "authorizations" to take pictures. We had them. These were our last shots on the pueblo.

One of the many many tombs in this huge cemetary.

Vermont; Summer 2010

We stopped at the Union Cemetary west of Ankeny, Iowa Sunday to shoot some pics.

we then visited a nifty muslim cemetary that looked like it was buddhist. that's cause they stole the site from some buddhists a long time ago, in order to bury their sultans. anyway, you couldn't take pictures in the actual cemetary, but here's the entrance.

Lordan at Forest Lawn Cemetary. I love this photo.

This is the cemetary in Ferndale, CA. It's built on the side of a fairly steep hill. Some of the headstones we saw were dated mid to early 1800's.

One of the ponds at Evergreen Cemetary in Portland, Maine that still is not frozen up and has a little open water for the many mallards and black ducks

can anyone translate this for me ?
