Dravo Cemetary is part of a ghost town-Stringtown- now cared for by historical org because the church burned down in 1924. Besides the name, it is said to be haunted.
The state of the cemetery seems to grow worse with brocken headstones lined up against a brocken fence on one side. Some of these folks likely don't have anyone to repair their headstones as the cemetery began in 1824; likely they don't have immediate relatives left themselves...
This was on the first day travelling around Pico in the Azores. There was a peaceful cemetery over looking the ocean with these bollards on the roadside.

Do you ever wish you had a do-over in life (please grant me the irony considering the image content)? The beauty of modern photographic tools is that as we learn more about our art... and our techniques improve we get to have do-overs. This is one such image.
The sunbeams that I admittedly photoshopped into the original image always bothered me. The image needed them to tell a story but I hacked them in. This image is much more realistic.
Let me know what you think. Constructive criticism is how we learn.
03/07/2015: The Historical Society of Dunedin gave a presentation in the Dunedin Cemetary. Using props from local museums, several residents from days gone-by returned to tell their tale. There were several sodiers, including an Army Nurse, a former mayor, a worker from the orange processing plant and an uptown, socialite couple. It was an enjoyable way to learn more about this great place where I live.
A study in converging lines, and all around fuzziness. I put the camera onto a fencepost, and pointed it up a bit, and fired the shutter without seeing looking through the lens.
I don't often go for low fidelity, but when I do, it's unintentional.

Situated in Kleve (Cleves), Reichswald Forest War Cemetery was created after the Second World War when burials were brought in from all over western Germany and is the largest Commonwealth cemetery in the country.
Some of those members of the land forces buried there died in the advance through Reichswald Forest in February 1945. Others died crossing the Rhine, among them members of the airborne forces whose bodies were brought from Hamminkeln, where landings were made by the 6th Airborne Division from bases in England.
Some of the airmen buried in the cemetery lost their lives in supporting the advance into Germany, but most died earlier in the war in the intensive air attacks over Germany. Their graves were brought in from cemeteries and isolated sites in the surrounding area.
There are now 7,594 Commonwealth servicemen of the Second World War buried or commemorated in the cemetery. 176 of the burials are unidentified. There are also 78 war graves of other nationalities, most of them Polish

Looking along one of the avenues of St. Paul's cemetery in Arlington, the trees framing the cross of the war memorial, at dusk. There was a little hawk perched on top, maybe a young red-tail or just possibly a merlin - it was too dim to get a good shot.
