Sometime back I picked this lens up for a song 'cause it had been dropped and the corrector lens was busted. Well, I did my research and testing and finally came up with a new corrector plate. The dirty old thing still needs cleaned, collimated and a mount made for it, but at least even now it's usable...

I couldn't pass the thing up for $40 even if it was broken..

After an hour of trying to find the brightest star in the sky I finally set the sights of my new telescope on Jupiter, complete with stripes, spots and four moons. So, excited!!

NGC 5385 is a group of stars in the constellation Ursa Minor , which is located in NGC list of objects of deep sky. Shot with the Orion 8" F4 Newtonian, Orion 50mm Mini Guidescope and the QHY5L-IIM Guide Camera with the main imaging camera, Celestron Nightscape 8300 OSC CCD Camera, all riding on the Celestron CGEM. This is 4x300s cooled to -15c, Ambient is +4c.

  

This cluster isn't much, I haven't seen any images online anywhere by an amateur astrophotographer. Still having Dec guide slope issues, I think its the camera because the SSAG guides just fine!
