A fan which is affixed to the ceiling. This particular one doubles as a ceiling lamp. It has three speeds, and keeps the room cool in the summer.
This is my ceiling fan that is working hard at keeping us cool.. We are still hot with it on. I got up from my desk , grabbed my camera to go outside and take a picture of the moon. I sat down on my couch to talk to my daughter. Got so comfortable and sleepy that I couldn't move to get outside. So instead of the moon I got the ceiling fan!!! Sorry

A cool ceiling fan at the Beef Island airport. It makes me happy to know that some British Virgin Islands official approved the use of "Big Ass Fans" at their main airport.
Yesterday, the air conditioner in our house broke - the day it reached 80 degrees for the first time in weeks the AC breaks. I'm not happy. It's muggy and humid out and the house is sticky. All the ceiling fans are on the highest speed now.

If there's one thing I can't resist taking pictures of, it's ceiling fans. I can't rest until I've tried all kinds of exposures and shutter speeds. I guess I love the various patterns that can emerge as the fan goes round and round.

People come in to the office all the time and remark about how pleased they are that we preserved the "original architecture" and ceilings. Then we have to tell them that it's all a reproduction and the ceilings are faux tin vinyl sheets. They're always crushed a little and I'm a terrible person because I think it's funny. Not gonna stop, though.
For the Pentax Forums Single in August Challenge
This was also taken for the "In the Air" Daily Challenge. I like the way the composition reminds me how high up it is, but ultimately I chose the brighter photo for submission.
I was playing around with Microsoft's photosynth software (http://labs.live.com/photosynth/) and got inspired to play with the idea in 2D space. I've made and posted panoramic before but this is kind of different. I've run across a few similar composites (including Flickr staff member Heather: www.flickr.com/photos/heather) but I kind of like this one for its abstract feel. I'll probably keep playing with this to try and keep the abstraction, but retain more clarity. What do you all think?
