#Ceiling - The first Belt Driven Ceiling Fans- was used in the United States 1860-1870.An exact date cannot prove itself. At that time, there were no electric motors for ceiling fans. The ceiling fan was Instead, by means of a belt drive and pulleys move. The belt itself was controlled by a steam turbine....

My ceiling fan makes its second appearance in my 365 phlog...

I began with the intent of capturing the motion blur of this ceiling fixture's fan blades. I put my camera on my tripod and snapped a few long exposure shots, but I wasn't impressed with the results.

I snapped this after I turned off the fan, while the blades were still slowing down. The pull chains aren't jiggling from the motion, and the fan blades still disappeared into thin air.

alot of people are twittering. I still don't get it, to be honest.....but

it makes really NEAT sounds sometimes :).

white blinds are a dumb idea for the room with the tv in it . . .

i'm just sayin . . .

this is what makes digital so fun.

you would never use film on a ceiling fan.

at least I wouldn't have.

The camera, not the snowman ;) My reflection is also easily visible.

I arranged to rendezvous with the ladies, at the Ginkgo Coffeehouse on Snelling. From there we traveled together to the State Fair Grounds, for the St. Paul Craftstravaganza.

Unable to fall asleep, I decide to creatively capture the ceiling fan.

We went to Home Depot for some home improvement shopping this evening. Nina was very interested in the ceiling fans and rekindled her relationship with the device, if only for a moment. (Like many babies, she loved ceiling fans as an infant.)

Just playing with shutter speed here. Funny how hunger makes you do stuff like stare at the ceiling and observe how the fan moves. Our food was taking so long.

i feel weird at parties where i don't know anybody. i do know some people who were at this party, and i met some new people who were at this party, well like two new people and i only actually really like one of them. whatever. i can't tell who the people on the left are because they're quite shadowy, and i wasn't introduced to the one on the right, i don't think. shrug.

believe it or not, i'm not really big on parties at all. i'd really rather just stay home and watch star trek, something attenborough, or if the mood strikes me, annie hall again.

And it is compulsory to shell your own peanuts and throw the shells on the floor ... one mustn't break a good tradition!

October 26, 2021 - Columbus Landmarks Foundation's Building Arts Studio at Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center

"We are proud to announce an innovative, new program at Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center: Columbus Landmarks Building Arts Studio. Fort Hayes is part of Columbus City Schools and includes an Arts & Academic High School and Career Center on the historic 1862 military campus near downtown Columbus.

Working with students enrolled in Fort Hayes’ Construction Management Program, the Building Arts Studio brings hands-on preservation education and training to the curriculum, preparing students for careers in the high-demand historic building trades. The classes take place in the c1890s gatehouse located at the main entrance of the Fort Hayes campus on Jack Gibbs Boulevard. Students will make headway on the restoration and rehabilitation of this visible, campus gateway that has been vacant for decades.

The Building Arts Studio is made possible from a generous $50,000 program grant recently awarded to Columbus Landmarks from the Ann Sherry Foundation, which funds innovation in public education; and from annual operating support from the Greater Columbus Arts Council.

We are honored to embark on this unique public education opportunity not available anywhere else in U.S. Our goal is to create a knowledgeable and skilled workforce to meet local demand while improving the Fort Hayes campus for future generations."
