Taken during January's trip to Chicago, I'm just uploading some pics I never got around to uploading.
I finally figured out why part of Petunia's new daily routine of these past few weeks has been to climb around in the closet: she figured out how to get up in the attic.
This morning I heard a cat-sized thump coming from the closet, but when I went to see what was going on it was empty and there was no Petunia in sight. Then I heard someone walking around on my bedroom ceiling. Calling her name only resulted in faint happy Petunia-squeaks from overhead. Once she peeked out at me, but then went back to her explorations.
I finally put some food in a bowl and rattled it around and she leaped down (and I took this picture).
I wonder if the neighbors have been hearing mysterious noises from above.

Seventeenth century decoratie plasterwork ceiling in one of the major rooms of Wroxton Abbey School, Oxfordshire.
I often enter old passages and building entrances, since sometimes I get lucky and stumble upon interesting details for new photographs. This is a building entrance ceiling, in a building just few meters from Terazije square. Today they make 'em flat.

The ceiling was painted in signs of the zodiac during the 1859 restoration by William Burges.
Okay, I know it's a little blurry, but I like it. This is a ceiling detail from the Paris hotel in Las Vegas. Lovely work!
The Troxy is a Grade II listed art-deco venue in the East End of London. They had an open day on the occasion of restoring and installing a Wurlitzer theatre pipe organ.

Excursion to Pollença.
Ceiling painting in the church Nostra Senyora dels Angels (Our Lady of the Angels) in Pollença.
Church of St Mary with St Peter, Oldham, Lancashire. Although there has been a church on this site for centuries the latest re-building was in Victorian times. In the 20th century the interior was made very plain by painting over the Victorian decoration but, in the 1970's, the church architect, Stephen Dykes Bower was employed, with his team of craftsmen, to take the fabric back to what it would have looked like in Victorian times. The craftsmanship is of a very high standard and the results are spectacular.
It might be tough to see, but I'll explain what is going on. The king and queen would sleep in their own rooms. Each room had mirrors on the ceiling and on the wall. When they would light fires in the room the light from the flames would reflect in the mirror and it would give a similar appearance to a starry sky.
