Never ceases to be amazed at these flowers.

Carefully, in order not to damage any of the flowers, I may lay down on my stomach, and can then lie there with the camera for hours.

A click for an enlargement is certainly worth it.

Thank you dear friends for all kind visit, comment and fav.

Photo from last year.

Never ceases to amaze me how hummingbirds can keep their bodies absolutely still (look at those tiny feet!) even when their wings are beating something like 15 times per second. Really is a miracle of nature...

Hello Everyone!

Perhaps I am a simpleton, but it never ceases to amaze me that small birds can perch on little flowers! This was taken during fall migration and the Nashville Warbler was so intent on finding bugs that it paid no attention to me as I clicked away. A few passersby stopped to ask what I was seeing. It was heartwarming to see their delight as they stood by me and watched the action. This was one of those memorable days that we all hope to have now and again.

Thanks a million for stopping by and for leaving a comment. I do love hearing from you! Have a wonderful day and weekend!

" Even if the dark wouldn't guide me

I will be looking for proof in the soil

Shadows are black, their choruses, they turn

In the evening light

They washed away the evidence

In the river joy

Nothing is left of it

Just the pain of guilty eyes

And I follow, follow them down

I remember the time

When the dark felts were high

We were trampling lines

Looking up at the sky

Where is the future

We long for in life

Miss you from the bottom of my heart

And as the light of day moves faster I feel,

The loss of-

They washed away the evidence

In the river joy

Nothing is left of it

Just the pain of guilty eyes

And I follow, follow them down

I remember the time

When the dark felts were high

We were trampling lines

Looking up at the sky

When we cease to exist ... "

Thank you so much in advance my dear friends for the faves, awards and comments. Forgive me if I cant respond sometimes. Work has been stealing my time from Flickr. But for sure and 100% I read all your comments and always so grateful for it. Take care my sweet friends. Hugs to all 💞

I have scarcely left you

When you go in me, crystalline,

Or trembling,

Or uneasy, wounded by me

Or overwhelmed with love, as

when your eyes

Close upon the gift of life

That without cease I give you.

My love,

We have found each other

Thirsty and we have

Drunk up all the water and the

Blood,

We found each other

Hungry

And we bit each other

As fire bites,

Leaving wounds in us.

But wait for me,

Keep for me your sweetness.

I will give you too

A rose.

There was a stillness in the garden. All bird activity had ceased except for this Sparowhawk perched menacingly above the House Sparrow's hallowed quarters of the garden.

Cabot Trail, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada

The Skyline Trail on Cape Breton leads to this coastal view. When I arrived in the area, there was a raging storm with high winds, rain and fog with a forecast for continued inclement conditions. So, not to be stopped by the weather, I first hiked the trail in the storm. Thankfully I did not get blown off the cliff. The next day the storm ceased, contrary to the forecast, and after a lovely hike this coastal view appeared.

The night never ceases to be filled with madness, the humans driven by fear are acting desparate and Flit grows tired of trying to educate them.

She fires three warning shots into the crowd hoping they'll give thier heads a shake and get back in the game of life.

It never ceases to amaze me how often a warbler who lands on a flowery perch continues to forage like this one. That certainly is food for thought. The perch is a Hawthorn. His wingbars especially in large look a bit whitish so good chance he has some B1ue-w1nged ancestry.

If interested website has been updated for 2022 Michigan trip dates. Mike Diersing's Flickr has some more images from 2021 Michigan and Tennessee. Also if on Facebook Romin Dawson has images there as well.

A slight change of position, crop and exposure time to a previous shot from the same trip. I love how you can slow down time in photography and smudge moments.

The title is a line from this poem:

Dover Beach

BY MATTHEW ARNOLD

The sea is calm tonight.

The tide is full, the moon lies fair

Upon the straits; on the French coast the light

Gleams and is gone; the cliffs of England stand,

Glimmering and vast, out in the tranquil bay.

Come to the window, sweet is the night-air!

Only, from the long line of spray

Where the sea meets the moon-blanched land,

Listen! you hear the grating roar

Of pebbles which the waves draw back, and fling,

At their return, up the high strand,

Begin, and cease, and then again begin,

With tremulous cadence slow, and bring

The eternal note of sadness in.

Sophocles long ago

Heard it on the Ægean, and it brought

Into his mind the turbid ebb and flow

Of human misery; we

Find also in the sound a thought,

Hearing it by this distant northern sea.

The Sea of Faith

Was once, too, at the full, and round earth’s shore

Lay like the folds of a bright girdle furled.

But now I only hear

Its melancholy, long, withdrawing roar,

Retreating, to the breath

Of the night-wind, down the vast edges drear

And naked shingles of the world.

Ah, love, let us be true

To one another! for the world, which seems

To lie before us like a land of dreams,

So various, so beautiful, so new,

Hath really neither joy, nor love, nor light,

Nor certitude, nor peace, nor help for pain;

And we are here as on a darkling plain

Swept with confused alarms of struggle and flight,

Where ignorant armies clash by night.

And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

(Mark 4:39)

The texture and shapes of the weathered cliffs along this coast are superb. Even though I was chasing landscapes yesterday, I couldn't resist one of the wonderful patterns. No title would be suitable, so Cease and Desist by Brakes is as good as any.

Stromeferry lies next to the narrowest part of Loch Carron and for many years, there was a ferry service here to North Strome. This provided a link with the first road built in 1809 along the north side of the loch.[2] Completion of the Stromeferry bypass (A890) along the south-eastern shore of the loch made the ferry service redundant and it ceased operating in 1970. At that time, there were two vessels providing the service. The larger of the two, Pride of Strome, measuring 16m long x 5m wide, was built in 1962 by Forbes of Sandhaven.[3] The smaller, Strome Castle, measuring 9m long x 3m wide, was built in 1958 by Nobles of Fraserburgh.[4] Both boats now lie wrecked on the shore of Loch Carron between North Strome and Lochcarron

It never ceases to amaze me how a little light changes a view. This of course is Looking Glass Rock once more, instead of sunset, or afternoon light I opted to travel down here at 4 in the morning, setup a composition slowly, painstakingly... and not to mention in frigid temperatures. Not that it was very cold as far as the ambient temperature's were concerned, no it was only 37f, not awful... No the real problem was the wind, chill you to the bone in moments. If you want shots like this, you have to wait, be patient, not let the weather dissuade you. Photography takes setup, concentration, and the forethought to bring gloves. [No, seriously, I desperately need to get some dedicated gloves for this.] I watched other photographers come, give up because the clouds were blocking the first rays of light from the sun, and that to me is tragic. Wait a bit longer, salvage the shot, and plan for next time. I presently am waiting for a thermal inversion at this location, but that is all about patience, and a bit of luck.

First one of a new series of fall pictures that will last for the next few months. All of them were shot in the Dolomites, of course, the beauty of those places never ceases to amaze me.

Hope you enjoy the view...

The mountain never ceases to amaze.. every time, it gives you a new experience, a new feeling, a new chance to appreciate the beauty of the nature, and this way solidifies its presence in your life.

Once you've experienced all of this, there's no turning back to the mechanical world that we as a society have become.. and for that I am really thankful!

I never ceased to be envigorated by waves crashing on the shore. This was a very windy day and the tide was high. The waves were rolling in and crashing on the shore. The wind was so strong in the opposite direction (northerly) that it was blowing the crest of the wave in the opposite direction. You can also see the debris and shingle being tossed about in the wave as it breaks. If you look closely you can see a gull just to the left of the spray.

Never ceases to amaze me when the sun just catches the head of many of our common ducks and portrays some beautiful colors which are normally hidden from view as can be seen in this Pintail duck

No one’s told the daffodils about the pause to Spring

And no one’s told the birds to roost and asked them not to sing

No one’s asked the lazy bee to cease his bumbling round

And no one’s stopped the bright green shoots emerging through the ground

No one’s told the sap to rest, deep within the wood

And stop the sleepy trees from waking, wreathed about in bud

No one’s told the sky to douse its brightest shades of blue

And stop the scudding clouds from puffing headlong into view

No one’s asked the lambs to still the springs beneath their feet,

To stop their rapid rush and quell each joyful bleat

No one’s told the stream to halt its gurgle or its flow

And warned the playful breezes, not to gust and blow

No one’s asked the raindrops not to fall upon the earth

And fail to quench the soil in the season of rebirth

No one’s locked the sun down, or dimmed the shimmer of the moon

And even in the darkest night, the stars are still immune

Remember what you value, remember who is dear

Close the doors to danger and keep your family near

In the quiet all around us take the time to sit and stare

And wonder at the glory unfurling everywhere

Look towards the future, after the ordeal

And keep faith in Mother Nature’s power and will to heal

Animals never cease to surprise me. Miss Piggy, a Kunekune pig, lives on a little farm which is part of the park where I went yesterday to watch the ducklings. I walked past the farm on my way to the pond and noticed Miss Piggy on the pasture. Actually Miss Piggy is hard to overlook as she is huge but what caught my attention was the fact that she seemed to be very interested in the dandelions. I zoomed closer and this is what I saw, a pig blowing a dandelion ! I should really go to this park more often, the animals there seem to be quite fascinating .....

This is a pretty dark image from last Sunday's walk. Even though I really love all of autumn's beautiful colors, I also find myself being drawn to its dark side :) Hope you like it!

to love is to battle, to open doors,

to cease to be a ghost with a number

forever in chains, forever condemned

by a faceless master;

the world changes

if two look at each other and see ...

...

if two, dizzy and entwined, fall

on the grass: the sky comes down, trees

rise, space becomes nothing but light

and silence ...

After the battles are over,

And the war drums cease to beat,

And no more is heard on the hillside

The sound of hurrying feet;

Full many a noble action,

That was done in the days of strife,

By the soldier is half forgotten,

In the peaceful walks of life.

Just as the tangled grasses,

In Summer's warmth and light,

Grow over the graves of the fallen

And hide them away from sight,

So many an act of valour,

And many a deed sublime,

Fade from the mind of the soldier,

O'ergrown by the grass of time.

Not so should they be rewarded,

Those noble deeds of old;

They should live for ever and ever,

When the heroes' hearts are cold.

Then rally, ye brave old comrades,

Old veterans, reunite!

Uproot Time's tangled grasses---

Live over the march, and the fight.

I never cease to be amazed at the seemingly flimsy branches that the grey herons perch on, but reading below you will see that they only weigh a maximum of 2 kilograms.

We have a colony on the island in my local park.

Grey herons nest in groups at the same locations for generations, in sites known as heronries. To save time they will often reuse last year’s nest. They start arriving and making house repairs in February. Heron chicks can take as long as eight weeks to fledge, so even with an early start they will still be in the nest later than other young birds.

The grey heron (Ardea cinerea) is a beautiful statuesque bird, native to vast swathes of the Eastern Hemisphere. It’s found in a broad range of wetland habitats from Britain to Norway, to Japan, and South Africa and almost every country in between - bar the hottest deserts, and the coldest mountain ranges.

Here in Britain, the grey heron is one of the tallest birds you’ll encounter, standing at over a metre in height. Its size, combined with its smart grey black and white whiskery plumage, makes this fishing specialist instantly recognisable. Despite its grand looks and a 6ft whopper of a wingspan, the average heron weighs little more than a pheasant, with bigger males only reaching a maximum of 2 kilograms.

Canadian National coal train No. 769 prepares to load at Teck’s Luscar Mine near Cadomin, Alberta, on July 15, 2013. The train first rolls through the loadout, which it is doing here, so the operator can inspect the empty cars for any contaminants or other problems. The expansive coal processing plant and loadout were part of Teck’s Cardinal River Operation and was located on a CN line operating out of Leyland called the Luscar Industrial Spur. The mine produced steelmaking quality coal for 51 years and, unfortunately, ceased operations in June 2020.
