There is a crack in everything.
That's how the light gets in.

Going through some pics from the July big rain storm where I got soaked and came across this one. Kind of creeped me out..........
Taken as the sun was setting behind us, but the clouds were lit up on the lake side....
The line which usually holds my films to dry. In a nice lighting condition caused by a strong sunray. I couldn't resist to capture it.
In a field grazed by sheep until recently. I don't know whether they eat sorrel but there wasn't much of it to be found and most of those, like this one, were much smaller than usual...
Hopefully the sheep won't be back for a while, not because I've got anything against sheep but when the field isn't grazed for any length of time, it's lovely to walk through the long grass and wild flowers that spring up when they're given the chance.
Another from a night out with the boys. Cale did another run through the house with a red gell flash. Don't know how much longer it will be standing but we will "shoot"the c$%#@ out of it until then. The sky became clouded over so there were no star trails to be seen. The glow on the horizon is from the cities to the north...4 minutes f5.6 1oo ISO
Had the best night out with the boys
A compilation of the nights shoot from the 4 of us can be seen here
This past summer on the way home, the clouds parted from yet another rain and this was greeting us. It lasted for more than 20 minutes and we took the dirt road to get the best vantage point for a pic. I am standing through the sunroof of the car to get a higher vantage point over the corn. I thought the bins added to the country scene...
On the way home from a shoot in Erieau we made a detour around Erie Beach. Checked out the beach there and decided to get a few more captures. There was just a touch of snow here compared to Erieau. Cleveland was well lit up this night. f 4 ISO 200 3 minutes under near full moon.

The super moon turned out to be a less than optimum event but being out there with Jocelyn and
Bob for the evening made up for it. Playing with fire also made the evening spark :D....
I haven't been on here forever, and the excuses are huge, work, garden, photoshoots, tired, and those darn angry birds. I will have to get back to it and get caught up with my contacts.
While out for a drive we came across this gigantic pumpkin field, just asking for a pano.. 4 pictures stiched. 10 mm, F4. Why I was at 500 ISO is a mystery :D
Sailors delight!!!! The sunset was behind us this evening but the real show was in the eastern sky over the lake. After an afternoon of storm clouds and rain we went for a walk on the beach in Rondeau Park, and came across these cats on the beach. Too irresistible to someone with a camera. A bird on the top of the mast kept a close eye on us....
HAPPY CANADA DAY EVERYONE!!!!!!!
Thought it was time to get another night shot in. This was taken back in Sept before the cold set in. Now that the show at the Art Gallery is done and I have some time to do some photo uploading, perhaps I can get back to the fun part of photography :D.... F4 100 iso for 10 minutes...
I still find it amazing that the world is turning enough to show the tracking of the stars in a long exposure. What power it must take to accomplish this....
10 minutes at f6.3 100 iso 11.25 at night.....
As a side note: no one seems to complain about these towers all over the countryside like they do the wind turbines;-}
Started out this evening with a fall shoot in mind. We had scouted the area earlier in the day for a suitable place to capture some fall colours and the star trails. Well as luck would have it a thick fog bank rolled in on all the water area scenes. Butttttt on this quiet back road the fog was not present, except in the far distance you can see where it began again. Not to be outdone we set up camp and got our fall colours in.

One of the hilights of our visit to Seattle was this location. It was pretty far from our hotel, but since we had a rental vehicle it was no problem. The only downside was the weather which was overcast and windy (Yes, Seattle's finest!). So colours were dull and the light was not that great so i chose to edit this one in black and white. I kept the red breaklights in the scene to emphasise the flow towards the skyline.
Enjoy!

Came across this anchor on the lakeshore and the sun was just about to set behind it. Well that looked to good to pass up...Definitely the golden hour...
There was quite a group of people attending the show, Not something you can just catch at any time. This was a blending of 4 / 30 second shots. This was also the night we misjudged when it would hit us and got a little damp before we got back to the truck ;-}. The sky showed some pretty awesome colours for us... John and Bob were the other shooters for this night...
Here it is day one and we are out of bed by 6 am (let the maid make the bed :-) to catch the first sunrise of our vacation. Drove to this place commonly known as Dunk`s Point or Burnt Point.....
Just a short walk and we're sitting on a rock, with coffee in hand watching the sunrise over Georgian Bay......
With the winds at over 50 mph across the pier I decided this was as close to the end as I wanted to go. I had trouble with just trying to keep the tripod from shaking let alone me!!!! The sun kept peeking through the fast moving clouds creating some interesting effects on the waves...
Just when you think you have the road to yourself some truck has to go by. Sheesh...Also while there a skunk decided to waddle behind me and down into the stream...Here kitty kitty...Anyway this is a fave spot on Terrace Beach with the old tree. The moon always cooperates by rising just behind it. A few clouds added to the scene. What else is there to do at 1 in the morning???..

Took a compilation of 82 images and stacked and blended together. The car that decided to see what we were doing created the long shadows of Bob West and I on the sand and illuminated the tree. Happy accident
It's midnight, you've done some star trails, you are waiting for the other camera to do a dark frame, why not test out that new LED light.
Bob walked in front of the camera to do some creative light painting....Who says you can't have some fun while waiting.....
3 minutes @ f4, did some extra sharpening and contrast to bring out the skies for this one. Full moon and Cleveland on the horizon made for a brilliant evening....

While going through some older archives I came across a set of 20 short burst exposures I took back in march 2010. A quick combo in "Startrails.de" and I came up with this. How I missed it before is a query? Also the fact that I stayed up until the moon rose at 1 am and then ventured out in the middle of winter, well... it is the time that works the best...:-D...pointing east on the shores of Lake Erie near Erieau...
F4 400 ISO 121 sec each...
It was a very long Friday the 13th, where what could go wrong DID!!!!
Decided to finish out the day on the beach and see the moon rise. The lake had a thin layer of ice on the surface which reflected the star trails. The low moon rising to the left, lit up the pilings just right. The wind turbines in the distance were flashing their red lights creating quite a show. A perfect end to a frustrating day ;-}
20 minutes @f11 100 iso -5 c.
The pilings on our favorite beach, provided the perfect foreground and sitting area for the Erieau fireworks display. All that's missing are the star trails ;-}
Definitely view this one large....
We had just finished a delightfull meal at "The Princess" restaurant when this storm rolled in across the bay. Perfect timing and location, for some really dramatic cloud movements. And we didn't even get wet.. with Bob West

Back from a fantastic holiday in Tobemory. 8 days with family and friends at the Cyprus Lake National Park camping.Bob Ren, Pauline, and I went out for an evening shoot at Dunks point and we were not disappointed. The moon rise was stunning and the clouds that drifted in and out left a few breaks in the star trails. Good times...
This creek changes it's flow on a daily basis to Lake Erie. This just happened to be the time it was flowing straight out and froze in position. Early morning sunrise added an "Erie" (get it) glow to the surface. Taken from on top of the bridge with the fish eye.

We take her to play a few times each day in the backyard. Sometimes, on sunny days my lens catches the sun and Shizandra loves to chase the light as well.
I cannot think of a better place so close to home to take a walk as the moon rises. This was on Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. on the shore of Lake Erie. I took a variety of different settings and ended up with iso 400 f8 for 30 seconds. The only trouble with the higher iso was the dark area in front of me was grainy, hence the crop. However I was surprised that the noise in the rest wasn't too bad. f 5.6 was a better setting at 200 iso but the composition wasn't to my liking. The starburst of the moon and the lights were more appealing...Looking east towards Erieau....
No fog this night to interfere with the image. Set up for the long term, iso100, f4.5. Started early just as the blue hour was about to fade, about 1 hour after sunset. Couldn't believe how much light there was with absolutely no moon. We sat there admiring the night sky, and saw the space station go across the sky in front of us. And as an added plus there was a live band playing just 3 concessions over at a barn party. The night was so still we could hear them quite clearly. When they quit for a short break another set of night crawlers started to howl. There were coyotes making their own music, not that far from us!!
Thanks again to the Dilliots for the use of their back yard....
OK I confess I am a Trekie Fan. Went out tonight to catch the setting moon, and decided to get just one more with polaris and the milky way. A bit cool only 6c, and a breeze from the north but I think worth it...F4, 10 mm, 200 ISO for 37 minutes....
First moonrise in 4 months. It was just too cold -20 to -25 is not what I wanted to do. Even this night was -12 C. Such crazy weather we have been having. Got out for my birthday to do a sunset and one hour later this moonrise. Off to the local restaurant for ribs and wings then home to get warm. 100 iso F4 70 mm 119 sec.
Kayla and Chloe showed us some kicks on the beach in the blazing sun. Also I think the sand was to hot to stand on ;-} Used an off camera flash on them just as they were jumping.

Cloe was soaking up the moonlight as we were on our first model night shoot, back in June 2010. She found a comfortable log to rest against for the one minute exposure. f5.6 at 100 iso. 20mm.
If you look close to her raised leg you will see the mosquito that was sucking the blood out of her, but she didn't flinch...
ps. I have been sitting on this one till I learned how to process it properly...:D
What happens when you mix 4 photographers a box of steel wool and the kitchen whisk together? Well in our case some fun pyrotechnics on the bridge of course..I'm sure the neighboring cottages wondered what was going on. Then again it was midnight:D....
