A selection of images taken from a photo shoot at Colwick Country Park, my local parkland. There was definitely a lot of action on the water including territorial defences, Grebes feeding and other groups of wildlife canoodling and pairing. Spring brings photographic opportunities to be further explored, an exciting time of year.

I was experimenting with how to catch a lightning during the last thudnerstorm from our balcony. This is the only shot I got... will certainly try again and go for a better one :-)

It's probably not good to catch your own boat. ;)

This common tern in Chichester Harbour had caught the fish by diving, flew with it across the beak, dropped it and caught it in mid-air lined up with its beak and then swallowed it! The high key image reveals the ring band on the leg.

The pied kingfisher (Ceryle rudis) is a water kingfisher and is found widely distributed across Africa and Asia. Its black and white plumage, crest and the habit of hovering over clear lakes and rivers before diving for fish make it distinctive. Males have a double band across the breast while females have a single gorget that is often broken in the middle. They are usually found in pairs or small family parties. When perched, they often bob their head and flick up their tail.

This female Pied Kingfisher is seen tossing it's catch before it enjoyed the meal. Photographed on a boat ride on Lake Baringo, Kenya.

For those of you who watch the show The Deadliest Catch, you will like this one. I went on a Bering Sea Crab Fisherman's Tour in Ketchikan, Alaska. This is a Deadliest Catch poster signed by many of the people from the show, including the late Capt. Phil Harris. The poster was in tight quarters and my lens didn't allow for a complete shot and I wanted to make the signature ledge-able as well. I know this isn't a wonderful photographic image in itself, but it means a lot to me to have the shot just the same.

Wishing dear Barbara a happy Birthday for the 7th! juntos

In this shot, I've used glycerine to increase the viscosity. It gives a very nice texture.

The bass fishing was good! This Ring-billed seagull had a little more than he or she could handle. It was quite the catch.

Playing catch on top of the Malvern Hills on a late summer's afternoon walk. Its always magical up there, on one side, you can look over the flood plains around Malvern and Worcestershire and on the other, the hills heading towards Wales.

The dogs love it too, so many interesting smells, freedom to run and play and the posssiblity of a few bunnies to chase! Barney had a great time chasing his tennis ball that day... until he bit a hole in it, about 5 mins after I took this!
