Listening to Carole King today… another old Rocker that’s made beautiful music for a number of years.
Carole King is an American singer, songwriter, and musician who has been active since 1958. King has made 25 solo albums, the most successful being Tapestry, which held the record for most weeks at No. 1 by a female artist for more than 20 years.
Her record sales were estimated at more than 75 million copies worldwide. She has won four Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. She has been inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as a performer and songwriter.

The Hooded Merganser:
Spotted this Female Hooded Merganser Strutting Her Stuff after finishing a breakfast of Frog Legs alfresco. The legs were still attached to the frog, so it took her awhile to dine, but she seems to have had a Happy Ending : )
Hooded Mergansers are fairly common on small ponds and rivers, where they dive for fish, crayfish, and other food, seizing it in their thin, serrated bills. They find their prey underwater by sight. They can actually change the refractive properties of their eyes to improve their underwater vision. In addition, they have an extra eyelid, called a “nictitating membrane,” which is transparent and helps protect the eye during swimming, like a pair of goggles.
Hooded Merganser ducklings leave their nest cavity within 24 hours of hatching. First, their mother checks the area around the nest and calls to the nestlings from ground level. From inside the nest, the little fluffballs scramble up to the entrance hole and then flutter to the ground, which may be 50 feet or more below them. In some cases, they have to walk half a mile or more with their mother to the nearest body of water.
The oldest recorded Hooded Merganser was a male and at least 14 years, 6 months old when he was shot in Mississippi in 2009. He had been banded in Minnesota in 1995.

I shot some of these for a "Cases" theme a while back but they never got posted. I figured I'd give them another try. For the Macro Mondays group, theme, "Stack". The stack measured approximately 1.25 inches tall. Just the morning sun for lighting.

The goosander is a medium-sized duck and a member of a group called the 'sawbills' because of their long, narrow bills with saw-like 'teeth' which are good for gripping fish. A long, streamlined bird, it is perfectly shaped for swimming after fish.
Almost any fish species less than 20cm in girth may be consumed, anything from a stickleback to a salmon. They catch what is most abundant; in extreme cases they can swallow a fish 36cm long.
Male goosanders are white, with dark green heads, black backs and long, red, hooked bills. The white sides and breast sometimes have a pink glow. Females are grey, with a gingery or reddish-brown head and a white throat.
I was drawn to my favorite photo-spot on a beautiful evening, with this as a best result. Been there many times, but it's always a great feeling to stand (or sit in this case) there taking photos!
A Case antique tractor (from around 1915, I guess) being lovingly maintained at Heritage Park Historical Village, Calgary.
This case is rigid, like a stylized box, with ZIPPER access.

Am 21. Mai 2023 wurden aufgrund von Bauarbeiten an der KBS 950 einige Züge über Holzkirchen umgeleitet. Als dann durch einen Heißläufer ein Böschungsbrand bei Ostermünchen entstand, mußte sogar sämtlicher Verkehr den Umweg über das Mangfalltal in Kauf nehmen. So auch der EC 114 von Klagenfurt nach Dortmund HBF. Beim Überqueren der Großhesseloher Brücke im Süden von München konnte ich den von der 101 125 geschobenen Fernzug dokumentieren. Im Vordergrund der Isar-Werkkanal samt Wehranlage.
On May 21, 2023, some trains were diverted via Holzkirchen due to construction work on the KBS 950. When a slope fire near Ostermünchen was caused by a hot box, even all traffic had to take the detour via the Mangfall valley. This was also the case for the EC 114 from Klagenfurt to Dortmund main station. While crossing the Großhesseloher bridge in the south of Munich, I could document the long distance train pushed by the 101 125. In the foreground the Isar canal and weir.
The top floor had terrified me, quite frankly. Even Michael didn't like it and he's as stoic and calm as they come. We quickly descended to the floor below and walked through the long corridors, lined by these rectangular spaces, each which would have been a room in someone's flat.
In another life.
I always imagine building sites and occasionally these derelict places having wall-to-wall glass when finished. That's never the case - glass is expensive and I guess people need wall space to put stuff against. But still, in my head I could see this as a finished room with the hole in front of me as one giant. It would be marvellous.

Thanks to the Buranese custom of painting houses in bright colors--a tradition that may have had its origins in the color schemes of local fishing boats. Everywhere you look, you'll see houses clad in blue, green, pink, rose, lavender, purple, yellow, and other colors.
...wobei ich in diesem Fall das quadratische Format nicht so optimal finde. Es ist eher der Serie geschuldet.
...although in this case I don't think the square format is ideal. It's more due to the series.
Many folks in our small farming community have an old tractor (or several) that they have restored as a hobby, and then use them in parades, etc. This one was built in the 1960's but is still a working tractor as you can see by the mower on the back.

"Rust n Dust Steam & Gas Show" was held this past weekend. I ended up going on Sunday afternoon. It was 88 degrees out and not a cloud in the sky( so harsh shadows) and some of the antique tractors had already pulled out. I made the best of it and talked to a few people and got a few shots in. I forgot to check what year this CASE tractor was from.
