The REALTOR® office building located at 500 New Jersey Avenue, NW is a Class “A” 12-story modern and environmentally friendly structure. It is located within three blocks of the U.S. Capitol.

A sophisticated ventilation system responds to CO2 levels and keeps fresh air circulating throughout the structure. The

design of the building allows rainwater to be collected on the roof to water landscaping at the street-level plaza.

I been thinking about this shot for a while now. Since DST is coming this weekend and sunrise will be even earlier, it was now or not for another long while... Had to get on a train about 30 minutes earlier then normal, I also jumped in a cab thinking I might miss something.

Was really hoping for one of those really colorful pink-orange-red sun-cloud mornings and got just a little. An extra treat was that the courtyard is mostly empty of others at this time of morning. Really adds to the atmosphere up there, to be alone. As well its not common. The Bean is a major people magnet.

I have been on a saturation kick lately, once you start it's really hard to drop. I have really tried to keep it in check, as there is an edge where to much is really not helpful. I will open Fair game on anyone to let me know when it gets close to that edge...

I have a full series in mind for the Bean + Sunrise, so I am really taking todays 30 minutes as a case study for that. i.e. more to come later in the year... (I am really a big fan of this sculpture, just check my favorites. I think about 1/3 are of the Cloud gate.)

Nov. 3rd this made Explorer FRONT PAGE! (#9) Thanks to all of you!

Hayes North Telephone Exchange, 1973.

Architects; PSA and Gray Associates.

Architects were unknown to me till recently. I accidentally discovered this building from upper deck of a London bus in Hayes area on the way to Heathrow.

I may be biased but it is a pleasant surprise if a 'muscular/assertive' building from a not too distant past makes an appearance in lot of insipid mediocrity forced upon you these days.

The Fremont Troll (also known as The Troll, or the Troll Under the Bridge) is a piece of public art in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, Washington.

Artists: Steve Badanes, Will Martin, Donna Walter, Ross Whitehead

Year: 1990

Type: Sculpture

Dimensions: 5.5 m (18 ft)

Location: Seattle

Owner: City of Seattle

The Troll is a mixed media colossal statue, located on N. 36th Street at Troll Avenue N., under the north end of the Aurora Bridge. It is clutching an actual Volkswagen Beetle, as if it had just swiped it from the roadway above. The vehicle has a California license plate.

He is interactive—visitors are encouraged to clamber on him or try to poke out his one good eye (a hubcap). The Troll is 5.5 m (18 ft) high, weighs 6,000 kg (13,000 lb), and is made of steel rebar, wire, and concrete.

Aurora Avenue North was renamed "Troll Avenue" in its honor in 2005 and the troll was entered in the soapbox derby in 2007.

The piece was the winner of a competition sponsored by the Fremont Arts Council in 1990, in part with the goal of rehabilitating the area under the bridge which was becoming a dumping ground and haven for drug dealers. It was built later that same year. The idea of a troll living under a bridge is derived from the Scandinavian folk tale "Three Billy Goats Gruff."

A play cat's pupils dilate (due to the sympathetic nervous system) when they're in "mad" phase because [of] the 'fight or flight' syndrome. This adrenalin-driven reaction which also increases heart rate and blood flow and generally heightens the senses of an animal

relates to a need in nature to be watchful ie improving vision, speed and mobility.

From the back cover:

Many people have been aware, at one time or another, of the swift, irrational impulse to self-destruction. With some it is a momentary thing, to be brushed aside and forgotten. With others it culminates in suicide.

But what of the ones who -- without being conscious of their objectives -- also seek their own violent deaths . . . but at the hands of others?

Here is a book which probes into six cases. Of murder and attack victims, all of them aberrants -- lesbians, homosexuals, masochists, nymphomaniacs -- who spent a lifetime making themselves available to prospective killers.

The George Washington Memorial Bridge (commonly called the Aurora Bridge) is a cantilever and truss bridge that carries Aurora Avenue N. (State Route 99) over the west end of Seattle's Lake Union between Queen Anne and Fremont, just east of the Fremont Cut. The bridge is 2,945 ft (898 m) long, 70 ft (21 m) wide, and 167 ft (51 m) above the water, and is owned and operated by the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The bridge was opened to traffic on February 22, 1932. It was accepted to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The bridge is a popular location for suicide jumpers and numerous reports have used the bridge as a case study in fields ranging from suicide prevention to the effects of prehospital care on trauma victims. News sources have referred to the George Washington Memorial Bridge as a suicide bridge
