The prompt for today was A Pencil Case. This is my go-everywhere pencil case. Unfortunately, today it has no pencil in it, but the prompt only asked for the case! So I fulfilled the brief. The case does contain a pencil sharpener just in the unlikely event that a pencil jumps into the case and needs sharpening. This is the slimmed down version of the real pencil case which holds so many odds and ends that I have difficulty zipping it up.

4:54AM Central Time. Sunrise was at 5:44. Just in case you wonder why I show up an hour before sunrise every morning.
The road was still wet from a thunderstorm that had blown through. It sprinkled a little on my drive all the way up the mountain. I really wasn’t expecting much. You just don’t ever know. You just have to show up.

It's fun to go back and look over some old photos once in awhile...this was the Nickel Plate on the move to the Quad Cities for Train Fest in 2011. On July 20, it ventured north out of Peoria on the Iowa Interstate, passing the Case dealership at Henry, IL.

I bought this film case about 20 years ago from Spiratone, a camera accessory store in Flushing, NY that went out of business many years ago. It can hold 4 rolls of 35mm film. It's waterproof and supposed to be x-ray proof too but I cannot confirm that. Since then I haven't seen it other stores. I had seen other film cases but not this one.

Just a documentation photo here to show the contents of my Everest hard case. I picked up two of these and this is the case that holds my landscape/prime gear.
After a few close calls at the ocean in the past, I will no longer fear the wrath of Poseidon. I can conceivably jam my gear between a couple of rocks on the beach and shoot through high tide...later, when the seas have retreated, I will dig my case out of the sand, change lenses, and shoot some night images.
