BACKSTORY: Got up around 8:50AM, made it out driving by ~9:15 and went out until 2:27PM for a total of 5.25 hours. Spent $60.55 plus ~$10.66 gas for 40.0 miles of driving (14 mpg @ $3.73/G), for a total cost of $71.21. We drove to 24 yard sales, stopping at 15 (62%) of them. We made 44 purchases (69 items) for a total estimated value of $814.81, leading to a profit/savings of $743.60. So in essence, we multiplied our $71.21 investment by 11.44X. (Also, if you think about it, the profit counts for even more when you consider that we have to earn ~$900 on the job, pre-tax, in order to take home the $789 in cash that we saved. How long does $900 of disposable income take to earn, vs the 5.25 hrs we spent here?) Anyway, this works out to a *post-tax* "wage" of $124.26/hr as a couple or $62.13/hr per person.

Spent $73.00 plus ~$7.98 gas for 41 miles of driving (15.1 mpg @ $2.94/G), for a total cost of $80.98. We drove to 64 yard sales, stopping at 22 (34%) of them. We made 49 purchases (50 items) for a total estimated value of $743.64, leading to a profit/savings of $662.66. So in essence, we multiplied our $80.98 investment by 9.18X. (Also, if you think about it, the profit counts for even more when you consider that we have to earn $~755 on the job, pre-tax, in order to take home the $662 in cash that we saved. Spent $54.67 plus ~$8.53 gas for 46.7 miles of driving (15 mpg @ $2.74/G), for a total cost of $63.20.
We drove to 29 yard sales, stopping at 19 (66%) of them [but one was a 50-vendor boy scouts sale, so this count is deceptive].
We made 36 purchases (28 items) for a total estimated value of $436.61, leading to a profit/savings of $373.41.
So in essence, we multiplied our $63.20 investment by 6.9X.

BACKSTORY: Got up around 7:00 AM, made it out driving by 7:38 AM and went out until [forgot:estimating 12:38PM] for a total of about 4 hours, 25 minutes (because we spent ~35 minutes eating).
Spent $54.67 plus ~$8.53 gas for 46.7 miles of driving (15 mpg @ $2.74/G), for a total cost of $63.20.
We drove to 29 yard sales, stopping at 19 (66%) of them [but one was a 50-vendor boy scouts sale, so this count is deceptive].
We made 36 purchases (28 items) for a total estimated value of $436.61, leading to a profit/savings of $373.41.
So in essence, we multiplied our $63.20 investment by 6.9X.

BACKSTORY: Got up around 8:50AM, made it out driving by ~9:15 and went out until 2:27PM for a total of 5.25 hours. Spent $60.55 plus ~$10.66 gas for 40.0 miles of driving (14 mpg @ $3.73/G), for a total cost of $71.21. We drove to 24 yard sales, stopping at 15 (62%) of them. We made 44 purchases (69 items) for a total estimated value of $814.81, leading to a profit/savings of $743.60. So in essence, we multiplied our $71.21 investment by 11.44X. We had a good haul this trip. A lot of this stuff has been deployed in our house and it's as if we've always had it. The blue guitar is pretty much the best acoustic guitar in the house, because it sounds really great AND looks great. It gets a lot of use. Can't believe the guy just said "make an offer". I guess $20 was too high, because he accepted it right away.
We've already used the new automatic card shuffler when we've played Last Night On Earth and RoboRally with friends. The lamp is in our bedroom and it's nice to have one that is so adjustable. Not 6pictured was a firepit that we dropped off at MakePeace.

Clint is now obsessed with Frankie the Fish. Since we do not watch commercials, he missed it when the craze went around originally. :) The singing fish was hung up in our small bathroom right as Clint's birthday party started, driving everyone insane by the end of the night.
The gummy face was very creepy. It actually felt like you were eating a face. Everything was contoured pretty perfectly. The plastic it laid on top of was skull shaped, which affected how it felt a bit. We ate the eyes out first, and then simulated our simulation of the cheek-pulling-off scene from Ichi The killer (Carolyn's cheek was sore for days).
Those space guns are going to be fun at X-Day this year.
The Santa outfit didn't fit Carolyn's mom's dog, Willy, so she stuck it in for our cats, but it didn't fit Lemonjello, and barely fit Oranjello.
The Family Guy pens are interesting in that they have a Family Guy joke on them, but the joke changes when you click the pen. Very weird.
Some friends of ours have this same projector, and said it's decent, but you can see every pixel, and they all go to white after a few hours. Still trying to figure out the best use for this. It is too low res to ever use for primary watching, but it could be really awesome for atmosphere. But we already have a proprietary Ambilight system on our computer, so it would need to provide ambiance elsewhere. Perhaps downstairs, for parties? Or maybe on our bedroom ceiling, if the computer in there has the right outputs?
Only got one skull this year, a wooden one. Which is fine, because it's hard to find places for everything.
These weird custom-shaped rubber bands are apparently all the rage. I don't understand. But Simpsons are pretty cool, so neat.
Oranjello keeps kneading Carolyn's new scarf. This is a sexual masturbatory pleasure thing for him, so she has to hang it up where he can't get to it.
Getting the DVD of the next Tim & Eric season is quite awesome, as we usually haven't seen their DVD extra, which are often Grade A hilarity.
And the 3 restaurant gift cards will be used, as usual, for Clint's birthday, our anniversary/Valentine's day (10th/14th), and Carolyn's birthday.

All the excellent media we received for Christmas. Okay, the Crystal Head vodka doesn't count as media... And the lower Gargoyles item is a trade paperback (comic books). But the rest are DVDs. About 11 discs or so.
A lot of these DVDs aren't on Netflix. Netflix doesn't carry the full Toxic Avenger box set: You couldn't get the Toxic Crusaders animated series previously (only the first 4 episodes were available), though maybe that has changed. Netflix also didnt't have the version of Nosferatu with sound re-done by Type O Negative.

BACKSTORY: We went to BronyCon this year! Over 8,000 people showed up. This was the only time we really spent the whole weekend there -- the following year (2014), we only went for a few hours on the way back from an exhausting family vacation, and the year after that (2015), we didn't go at all. Attendance is over 10,000 nowadays. Frickin' crazy.
We got some decent stuff. We gave the SlipNSlide to Makepeace (which resulted in finding out about a party we didn't know about, which resulted in a lot of shenanigans). We have a lot of extra wireless routers now, which came in handy 6 months later when we had to purchase a new washing machine with wifi support. We gave the SpongeBob Operation game to Sean. The solar light sucks and didn't work well. And we are always looking for extra boomboxes for our central house music.

Framed The Starry Night by Van Gogh for $2? WIN! This is the only Van Gogh I'd ever consider actually putting up. You can tell that this picture got wet in the past, but it really only affects the matte, not the print itself.
You can also see my creative storage solution for mid-sized dolls: Hang them on the speaker wire / Christmas lights. This allows them to exist in spaces that would not otherwise be utilized, thus reducing their footprint to 0. The Deady doll on the right is by goth musician / animator Voltaire. They're popular enough to have been bootlegged in Asia.

This was the only time we really spent the whole weekend there -- the following year (2014), we only went for a few hours on the way back from an exhausting family vacation, and the year after that (2015), we didn't go at all. Attendance is over 10,000 nowadays. Frickin' crazy.
