Is this the little girl I carried?

Is this the little boy at play?

(Golde)

I don't remember growing older

When did they?

(Tevye)

When did she get to be a beauty?

When did he get to be so tall?

(Golde)

Wasn't it yesterday

When they were small?

Sunrise, sunset

Sunrise, sunset

Swiftly flow the days

Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers

Blossoming even as we gaze

(Women)

Sunrise, sunset

Sunrise, sunset

Swiftly fly the years

One season following another

Laden with happiness and tears

(Tevye)

What words of wisdom can I give them?

How can I help to ease their way?

(Tevye)

Now they must learn from one another

Day by day

(Perchik)

They look so natural together

(Hodel)

Just like two newlyweds should be

(Perchik & Hodel)

Is there a canopy in store for me?

Picture dedicated specifically to those of us who suddenly notice that our children have grown up - but we never realized when and how this may have happened...

A mirage? Hmmm... Maybe!!!

Three shot series. The Great Egret caught the crawfish, carried it over to the sandbar, where it was joined by the snowy egret. The Great Egret dropped the crawfish several times, picked it up, but eventually dropped it again, and the crawfish escaped.

Taken at Merced National Wildlife Refuge, where I just went with Marlin Harms, who has a killer photostream here on Flickr.

This bridge is located in the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve near Fayetteville, W.V. The 3030 feet long bridge stands 876 feet above the river. In 1977 when completed, it was the tallest regular car carrying bridge in the world. The bridge averages over 16,000 vehicles per day.

To an engineer, the material somewhat reveals itself by its rusty color. The bridge is made of Cor-Ten steel which was developed by United States Steel Corporation. The chemical make-up oxidizes as it ages, resulting in a layer of naturally protective material which also does not require painting. The steel was made by SSAB (Svenskt Stal AB; Swedish Steel Corporation), under license from the USS.

Created for everyday carry (EDC) theme in Macro Monday HMM! :-) Something that you always carry with you when you go out, other than the usual wallet, key, phone.

This metal nail file has been in my pocketbook since the 70s! It has endured many pocketbooks and now I’m thinking I should include it in my will. lol.. It sure is sturdy and still does the most fab job at what it’s made for. Why the paper nail files are popular is beyond me. But I digress.. I took this macro inside my pocketbook as I love polka dots. Hope you enjoy.

Today I have to run out at 9am for almost 2 hours, hopefully less, but will be back then. Looking forward to seeing everyones submissions. edit: I'm back. :-)

Can't leave home without it.

I haven't posted any street shots this, week -- perhaps because I haven't taken any. Processed from the archive... I'm gonna need to go for a good loooong walk this weekend.

The test of Sita's purity in the Ramayana story is Agni Pariksha, which is a fire test to prove her purity. This test was carried out because Rama doubted Sita's purity after being held captive by Ravana.

The kestrel carries it’s victim to the old wall. This juvenile kestrel has a black and white visual ring on it’s left leg and a metal ring on it’s right leg.

I reported this the next day and received the ringing information shortly after.

The bird was ringed as a nestling in a brood of five at Heswall on 04/06/2023. It is part of an ongoing juvenile dispersal and adult recruitment project in Merseyside (Wirral) & Cheshire, which has been running for a few years. My photographs were taken at Park Gate, Wirral so this young bird is staying very local. Kestrels are declining nationally so it is wonderful to know that this work is going on to try and throw light on the issues.

The full sequence of photos are in my album below.

Thank you for having a look at my photos. Comments or faves are welcome and much appreciated.

To carry all my love for you.

WONDERFUL FACTS - What is the most powerful bird in the world?

The wild animal known to have been killed and carried away by a bird was a 15 pound male red howler monkey killed by a Harpy Eagle (Harpia harpyja) in Manu National Park, Peru in 1990.

The Harpy Eagle is considered the world's most powerful bird of prey, although it weighs only 20 pounds. 🐧

A guy in late afternoon carries his little bundle of joy in his loving and caring arms and takes her for a stroll along uncrowded village inner streets near their residence.

I have learned later that this four-month-old infant girl is the fourth and youngest child of his daughter.

"These mountains that you are carrying,

you were only supposed to climb." —Najwa Zebian

Ever since I came across this quote I've been determined to do something with mountains and well I just did a quick edit on my phone with an app and well this came out.

The titmouse is lighter on his feet so he avoids the Juncos staying up in the branches if he can. Juncos chase other Juncos, the Titmouse & also the Nuthatches. Blue Jays are bruisers, much too big for this tree. We've been chasing the Ravens away, they'd carry the entire tree off if we'd let them. Thank goodness there aren't any squirrels. There's certainly a lot of personality bobbing around on this back porch rail.

Don't worry, everyone will be loving Corona again when the summer returns.
