If you decide to travel along this highway into the bowels of the Universe, carry enough fuel to cover the billions of light years ahead of you. You won't find a place to refuel. When you have travelled this distance without finding anything, not even a little bit of intelligent life and you reach the far reaches of the Universe... don't be scared... there's nothing there, either. Pink Floyd - Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Parts VI–IX
"Shine On You Crazy Diamond", was written as a tribute to Syd Barrett, one of the founders of Pink Floyd. He was also known as "The Crazy Diamond Syd". Barrett was a very creative musician and is considered one of the rock icons, with a strong influence on many artists, very especially to David Bowie. Syd Barrett is a key piece to understand the evolution of rock in the 70s.. Excessive drug use, especially LSD, caused him serious mental health problems. Syd Barrett died in 2006 at the age of 60. Always shine diamond.
The Universal is a science fiction song written as a tribute to two films by film director Stanley Kubrick. In the video, the Blur members wear outfits similar to Alex and his gang of thugs, the protagonists of the movie "A Clockwork Orange." The image used for the cover of the single alluded to what is possibly Kubrick's best film: "2001: To Space Odyssey."

It's been a while since I posted a lighthouse photo, and I do have a few more that I feel are worth sharing. This is the Cape Neddick Light, also known as Nubble Light or just the Nubble. Built in 1879, it is located on Nubble island which is just 90 meters off Cape Neddick Point, in Southern Maine. The lighthouse is only 12 meters high but because it sits on top of a steep rocky island, the light is actually 27 meters above sea level. The Nubble is a famous American icon and as such, a picture of it among with pictures from other prominent man made structures (like the Taj Mahal and the Great Wall of China) was carried by the Voyager Spacecraft, should it fall into the hands of intelligent extraterrestrials. Only the lighthouse keeper has access to the island and as you can imagine the small park at the tip of the cape right across from the lighthouse is almost always crowded with people enjoying the view of this beautiful structure and the rugged shoreline.

I was going to post something spooky and wish people a Happy Halloween but I can't bring myself to do so having seen the news from South Korea.
My thoughts are with all those caught up in and affected by the horrific incident in Itaewon, Seoul, during what should have been a night of fun.

As I sit and think about the days,
I dream about a place far away.

Sometimes, daydreaming is all a person can do when you discover something so sweet and new. Life is a fine work of art and a gift. I'll linger here a little longer and daydream.Thank you all for your continued support, kind favs, and lovely comments. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Time decides who you meet in your life,

and your behavior decides who stays in your life.
Another resident swallow in the area we visited, this is a beautiful bird a bit smaller than a sparrow. They are easily confused for the common Barn Swallow (by me atleast) and I identified them only after seeing the pictures.
The birds are in their peak nesting season so they capture several insects in flight and carry them back with their mouths full.
A large number of these birds were nesting under a bridge over an overflowing reservoir after the heavy rains this month. They were 100's of them and despite my best efforts it was incredibly tough to get a few good shots of it in flight. Very agile, unpredictable turns, and fast flyer.

“Black-headed Grosbeak parents fly south with worn feathers after breeding season. Their molting locations had been a mystery. The California scientists solved it with relatively inexpensive Global Positioning System (GPS) receiving devices.
They attached the 1-gm electronic devices to a leg of each grosbeak. The devices wake up every 2-6 weeks, record the GPS position and switch off. The GPS device, leg harness and leg bands weigh less than 2 g, or the equivalent of a long-distance runner carrying a laptop in a backpack. Intelligent....resourceful...fearless, the Carrion Crow is probably the most intelligent of the Corvids, they never miss a trick, always ready to capitalise on any situation that might benefit themselves.
They're also brilliant at chasing off birds of prey you've spent considerable time getting close enough to photograph....!!!

I haven’t been on for a few days, basically because they’ve been rather fraught. A dear one passed away on Saturday and I didn’t feel like coming on until today when I felt that carrying on and doing what I loved was a good way to honour her passing.
