Wandering into the carpool spots @worky.

"Just waking up in the morning gotta thank God

I don't know but today seems kinda odd

No barking from the dogs, no smog

And momma cooked a breakfast with no hog." - Written By Nobel Laureate Poet: Monsieur Ice Cube.

Last Saturday was a good day!

6:20 Started the day out with my usual "what in the %&$* am I doing up this early breakfast" - a 44 oz Pepsi and Hostess Crunchy Doughnuts - very good.

6:30 Met Sheldon and Dad (Steve) at the Salmon Creek Park and Ride to carpool to Eagle Creek - very good.

7:30 Met up with Miles, Ryan, and new buddy Christina at Eagle Creek and after exchanging hugs, kisses, insults, and full nelsons we started up the Ruckel Creek Trail.

7:30-11:30 Hike Ruckel Trail also known as Mt Everest Jr, ascend to creek on my butt (I'm sure pics will be posted later), look for Poison Oak with the paranoia of a schitzophrenic, freeze feet black while shooting Ruckel, hike back up to the trail while looking for Poison Oak with the paranoia of a schitzophrenic, hike down Mt Everest Jr, SEE A BLACK BEAR ON THE WAY BACK TO THE PARKING LOT!!! (Highlight of my day), see 2 Osprey fighting a Peregrine Falcon in mid-air.

11:30-2:30 Drive back to Vancouver, get waders, get lunch (You rock Burgerville), drive back to Eagle Creek.

2:30-7:00 Hike Eagle Creek, bushwack down to the creek, explore the creek and photograph God's handiwork, hike back to the parking lot, try not to pass out from exhaustion.

7:00-8:00 Eat amazing dinner with Miles, Dad, and Sheldon at Charburger whose food tastes like Ruth's Chris after a long day of hiking. My patty melt and super size chocolate pie HIT THE SPOT!

8:00 Start Drive home.

8:30 See the sky begin to illuminate with INCREDIBLE light, drive like Jeff Gordon (that one's for you Miles) to try and reach the Women's Forum in time to catch the light hitting Crown Point.

8:40 Arrive at Women's Forum - Light is gone 8^(, (Patrick Campbell, aka PDXphotoguy was there and he did catch the light! www.flickr.com/photos/drsoup/4636932850/) Race to Crown Point to see if we'll get a good sunset on the horizon.

8:45 Get to Crown Point, too much cloud layer on the horizon guarantees we won't be getting any more light or color, however; Sheldon did get yelled at by angry lovebirds who were too lazy to get out of their car to enjoy their smokes and the sunset. Lazy Lovebirds to Sheldon as he set-up his tripod in front of their car: "Oh... don't worry, we'll move for you!!!!!" Sheldon in his usual deadpan voice: "am I in your way?" - 2nd best part of the day after the black bear sighting.

9:15 Get home exhausted. Gonna go to bed right after I download my files.

1:30 Finally hit the hay after spending way too much time processing photos.

Christina, Ryan, Sheldon, Steve, and Miles... thanks for the good times.

IT WAS A GOOD DAY!!!!

Finally on to the photo. I'm not super stoked about this but I haven't hardly gotten out to shoot and I'm trying to get some more photos on my stream so here it is. I was way too focused on getting those three trees into the frame that I neglected to notice the path of the stream getting interrupted by the foliage in the middle of the comp. Needless to say, I'll be going back to Ruckel to get a better image. The processing on this felt very difficult for some reason. i think it's because there is SO MUCH GREEN. Waterfalls in really lush areas have seemed to give me fits. Not sure why. Does anyone else have those issues?

Anyway to see a really great photo or Ruckel look here ( www.flickr.com/photos/adriankleinphotography/4609992724/ ). Adrian and Zack were up there either just after our merry band or just before. Adrian's a photographic rock star as you can see from his photo.

Updated 5/26: Here's Christina's amazing comp: www.flickr.com/photos/konejita/4641801386/

Thanks for looking. As always comments and critiques are always welcome.

Blessings.

The world premiere of the GX3 at the LA Auto Show

Pure affordable performance: Crossover between sports car and motorcycle

It only takes 5.7 seconds to go from 0-62.5 mph (100 km/h) and the fuel consumption in the city is estimated to be 46 mpg (5.2 l/100 km)

GX3 was conceived for the U.S. by the Moonraker team and VW’s Design Center in California

Three wheels, two seats, and off you go in the carpool lane

Wolfsburg / Los Angeles, 4 January 2006. In a world premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Volkswagen presents the GX3 – a completely new type of motorcycle. The GX3 was conceived by the Moonraker team and VW’s Design Center in California, exclusively with the U.S. in mind, to bring an exciting idea to a fully functioning concept. With its three wheels and unique design, this Volkswagen opens up a new driving dimension.

What if you could carve up the back roads and cruise solo in the carpool lane?

A motorcycle with VW features: Light, fast, and environmentally friendly, the GX3 shows that conceptually it is much closer to a motorcycle than to a classic type automobile. This two-seater Volkswagen is one of a kind - bold, young, and affordable. It opens a new driving dimension, turns even the daily commute to work into a small trip to freedom, allows you to cruise in the carpool lane, even if you’re driving solo (the GX3 is a motorcycle, after all!) and with its keen handling it opens up completely new horizons for recreational driving.

What if performance were affordable?

Amazing dynamics for less than $ 17,000: The GX3 will be driven by a VW 1.6 liter engine. The four-cylinder delivers 92 kW / 125 hp. So far, so good. However, the GX3 is a pure driving machine, a motorcycle with two seats positioned side-by-side. And that’s why you can find 125 hp and 112.5 ft-lbs (152 Nm) in a mere 1,257 lbs (570 kg) Volkswagen. This results in a power-to-weight ratio of 10 lbs/hp (4.56 kg/PS). In just 5.7 seconds, the GX3 can reach a speed of 62.5 mph (100 km/h) and the possible lateral acceleration reaches 1.25g – values typical of sheer performance cars but delivered from a vehicle under the $17,000 price range. No comparable sports machine in the world, however, can come even close to the low fuel consumption of the GX3: 46 mpg (5.2 l/100 km). Fact is: a production counterpart of the GX3, could be on the market very soon. It all depends on the American driver’s feedback.

Tradition of the exceptional: Conceptually and visually the Volkswagen GX3 differs from anything currently on the roads in the U.S. And that’s a tradition at Volkswagen. It was with exceptional and unique products – today all of them legends – that Volkswagen propelled itself to the top in the USA during the 50’s and 60’s. Whether the Beetle, the Thing (Type 181), or the Microbus, all were the cult cars of their time and still are. In 2006, with the GX3, Volkswagen once again presents something totally unexpected and exceptional, a VW in every sense. VW - Being different.

Moonraker: The GX3 was designed in close collaboration between VW’s Design Center California (DCC) and an international, cross-functional group of young engineers, designers, manufacturing and marketing experts, also based in California. The team started its work in the US in early 2005. The job: To convert the wishes, dreams and needs of American drivers into mobility. The goal: highest possible customer satisfaction. Background: In addition to the models developed in Germany and sold in the US, in the future Volkswagen will be building more models catering especially to the needs and requirements of U.S. customers. One of the most dramatic and tangible early results: the GX3. Responsible for the design of the new Volkswagen is the Volkswagen Design Studio in Santa Monica. The team there will be working in the future in close cooperation with the product strategy staffs in the U.S. The GX3 offers a look into the exciting and comprehensive spectrum of totally new motor vehicles which are currently being conceptualized by Volkswagen of America for the US market.

What if authenticity had a radical edge?

Design dynamics: The focus for Volkswagen’s design team in California was to create a quintessential and pure driving machine. Inspired by the minimalist design language often expressed in contemporary GP motorcycles and F1 race cars, the GX3 has a true feeling of authenticity. These influences are seen throughout the exterior with an exposed single sided swing arm, aggressive central exhaust, open front wheels and stealthy matte finishes. The progressive dynamic on the GX3 is emphasized with a strong graphic dividing the body as it wraps up to the aggressive forward leaning roll hoops. Anodized gold and black suspension components and LED lighting are further examples of track inspired designs.

The GX3 interior is all about business with nothing to distract from the absolute driving experience. The driver’s cockpit is equipped with five point racing harnesses; “moto” style instruments and a GTI inspired stainless shifter. Most distinctly, the rear boasts a massive single 18”x12” back wheel dressed with a 315 rubber. The front end proudly displays a bold V graphic consistent with Volkswagen’s vehicle lineup, most notably the GTI. The GX3 in no way denies that it is a motorcycle, but rather plays it up as a unique design advantage.

Space-Frame: The basic structure of this driving machine is formed by a high-density, warp-resistant, steel construction space frame. The paneling of the interior and exterior parts of the space frame is made of high density fiberglass. A 2.83 tf3 (80 liters) trunk is located behind the seats.

What if driving was redefined?

Advanced chassis: The 215/45 R17x8J front wheels are controlled by a double lateral steering axle. While the front axle resembles the layout of an automobile, the rear axle shows more parallels to a motorcycle. The right side of the vehicle also makes use of a monoswing arm. The engine’s power is delivered via 6-speed transmission and chain drive to the rear wheel, which has a tire size of 315/30 R18x12J – a new super bike dimension. And that suits the GX3. A Volkswagen that breaks away from the conventions and that redefines driving fun and freedom of mobility. Drivers wanted. Seriously!

On my way back from Munich my colleagues and me, who were as carpool on the way, made a stopover in Wurzburg. I love this city, this old bridge over the Main with its special atmosphere.

There is also a lovely restaurant, which is characterized by a wonderful location, delicious food, but mainly through very very friendly service staff.

Today we were served by a waitress whose friendly smile and charm struck me immediately. What could be better after eating, if it is a bit quieter in the local, to present the project and to ask for a photo.

This favorable moment approached, just before we had to continue your travel. I spoke to the young lady. Why not, said Mara, whose acquaintance I was making here.

We searched a spot that fits on the lighting conditions and the background. Very patiently Mara allowed me to conduct her to the right place. I also like to thank Mara's colleagues that gave us time for the little photo shoot.

Mara, 25 years young, lived for 4 years in Würzburg and is a qualified experts concerning hotel and restaurant. Sorry, I have found no English term for this job title.)

Unfortunately, time was pressing a little, because my colleagues were already impatient and wanted to leave.

So I did not have much time to carry on my little interview. But as far as I could find out:

On "my" lonely island Mara would take: her smartphone, in order to communicate, a hot-water bottle and a knife.

Mara describes herself as an open mind; she is good at dealing with people, is spontaneous, something crazy, makes things that are otherwise only do guys, for example Mara loves playing with a home video game console.

Mara is a happy, because she is healthy and she has friends & family who support her, if it is necessary.

At this point, unfortunately, I had to stop. I thanked Mara, we shook hands and then I had to leave. Mara gave quickly her e-mail address. I promised to send a message, when I have uploaded the photo.

Thanks Mara for the time you have given for me during your working. I wish you all the best and continued success. I hope your friendly personality you’ll never loose and always you can be a fortunate person.

..............................................

Plano, Texas. Exactly a year ago. Fog is pretty rare over there. when it stayed over Plano for two days last year, i just went around with my powershot g10. The "rockts" was my kid's school, just on the left side of that street. souvenirs ...

On the carpool line! Raleigh, NC 2017

Interstate 17 crossing over Schnebly Hill Road near Munds Park, AZ.

Actually the car can't really seat all four adults comfortably, as their hands make it impossible for them to sit neatly side by side, but it does fit three nicely. Kid's however make great back seat stuffing, so two or three can easily fit in there X)

This is the first plane I flew in SL. Just love it and had to bring it out again.

With help from Louis Stewart Designs I put a Mt Rainier coat on it and made it Shiny. Could say it's mountain camo ^^ .

I will use this to deliver used ammo.
