Volunteers from the Friends of Stevens Creek Trail and the Mountain View/Los Altos Service League of Boys help care for trees on the Stevens Creek Trail in Mountain View. Activities include: pruning, mulching, berm adjustments, weeding, staking and stake adjustments.
Kindred Spirits Care Farm is an organization led by Karen Snook. With the understanding that every sentient being is entitled to respect and empathy, and that violence against one is violence against all, we connect abused, neglected and abandoned people with rescued farm animals in a sanctuary setting to let them heal each other. We teach participants to celebrate diversity in all things (plants, animals and people), and through working with plants and animals with a permaculture perspective, we help participants learn to heal the planet. We promote inclusion, connection and cooperation to help reverse the damage caused by the exclusion, isolation and competition that seems so prevalent in the dominant culture. Care farming is a well-known healing method in Western Europe and we are promoting sustainable care farming here in the United States. We are starting with at-risk youth in high schools and expect to include colleges and more in the future.

Pima Animal Care Center brought 18 dogs to the PetSmart location near Irvington and Interstate 19 on Friday, Feb. 13, 2015.
Last Wednesday, August 30, IVC Food Resource Center, along with Office of Student Equity and Student Life hosted another food distribution event at the SSC Quad. Over 500 students came by to get a meal and some pantry items available.
