Care Harbor, a nonprofit, volunteer-based charity, is hosting its annual free, massive clinic to provide free healthcare to thousands with limited and no access to healthcare. This year, the first day of the clinic will be exclusively devoted to treating Los Angeles County’s homeless population. In its 10th year, Care Harbor will be joined by more than 700 healthcare professionals who will volunteer their time to care for the most difficult-to reach homeless population in Los Angeles.
There are more than 58,000 Angelenos experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles County, a rate that has increased over the previous year. Despite unprecedented investment by the County of Los Angeles through Measure H, which invests $350 million annually to address the homeless crisis, for every 133 people that are housed across the County services, 150 more become newly homeless each day. This year, more than 1,000 homeless people are anticipated to die on the street, a rate higher than ever before. According to an October 2019 report released by the L.A. County Department of Public Health, the number of homeless deaths doubled from 536 in 2013 to 1,047 in 2018, but the death rate, which accounts for increases in the total number of homeless people, increased by over a third during that same period. The report cites coronary heart, drug/alcohol overdose, liver disease/cirrhosis and hypertensive heart disease among the leading causes of homeless deaths.

2021's theme was "CARE - Create a Ripple Effect". 8 speakers weathered numerous storms to make their way onto the TEDxFondduLac stage on Saturday, August 14, 2021. Instead of the event's usual sold-out crowd, an intimate setting of team members, speakers, and invited guests made the day a special affair. Photos by Brian Kolstad.

An amazing evening was spent at Bounce, where my son was attending a class. These two graceful, strong, limber athletes were working with each other. The parents drawn into the spectacular athleticism that was shown.

don't necessarily mean that what you be saying is deep"

Artist Statement: Hey there, I am a Visual Artist based in Kansas City, Kansas. The art I created for this gallery showing was inspired by over two decades of employment here at the Health System with a focus on The Art of Caring - caring for ourselves, each other, and our communities. Through this piece, my goal is to celebrate diversity and showcase the importance of inclusivity for all with "It Is All A Journey Together”. My experience with creating art spans over 3 decades and I am so appreciative to have the opportunity to share this with the KU Health System. My hope is to further bring a sense of joy and healing to their facility. Join me in spreading love and compassion through the power of visual art.
