Toyota Yaris W58824 car-stereo connectors
I suppose that the left one is for the speakers
Second left the power connector
The right connector is for the buttons on the dash (I guess)
The second right the external CD player
The third right is probably for the auxiliary (I guess)
The round black cable is the antenna
Can anyone confirm this?

There is not much space in the cavity for the capacitor, so I tightly fixated it to the connector with a zip tie. Also, the leads to both the connector contact and the little speaker cable is very stiff.
As for any crossover capacitor, the capacitor must be bipolar!
I used Nichicon UDB series 6.8”F 50V 20% caps, and chose a pair that read closer to 6.0”F. The caps attached to the BOSE tweeter are around 4.7”F.

I did not have any hot glue around, otherwise I would have added it.
One of the advantages of owning an old car was being able to tear it apart on a whim in order to install random audio, computing, GPS, and sensor hardware, since it wasn't worth much to begin with, and thus, there was little worry about damaging things. My much loved 1992 Maxima is seen here during a particularly enthusiastic Saturday tinkering session in 2002, in which an AC inverter, LCD display, and DC power/serial cable was being installed in order to support a Linux based car PC.
Unfortunately, the car was totalled two years later in a 3 car accident on 101-N, but the installed gear was successfully salvaged, and awaits transplantation into my next project car -- perhaps a Nissan 300ZX twin turbo?
A picture the of the irish band "The Boys of the Lough"
The story of this was ... Eddie and Allan bought a jaguar XJS V12 as a weekend car to play with. At 5.3 litres and top speed of 160mph it is no slouch, but all of this did not mean it had in car entertainment. Therefore I supplied a cheap old tape player to ensure the car had some sounds.
So we get the tape deck in and I go upstairs and grab the first tape from my fathers tapes to hand, which turns out to be the Boys of the Lough... which was traditional music. This tape thiough seemed to be the perfect additon to the gentile car that roared away. So sitting at twice the legal speed limit listening to a horn-pipe was a delightful experience.
Although Allan seemed less than convinced and blamed all bad luck that the XJS had on the tape... thus nicknaming it the jinxie tape.
So the jinxie tape was the 100 percent jaggie cruising music from then on in.
So 2 years pretty much down the line. The jag now laid up as it is rebuilt. I am standing in a bar and look down at the leaflet on the cigarette machine I place my drink on.
The pamphlet for a local festival of folk had many pages that seemed interesting enough to encourage me to open it. To cut a long story short. The boys were coming to dundee and we were now going.
So this picture is a homage to the great mystery that is lengthy association through external sources, as without that jag being bought. 3 tickets would be still within the ticket office that night, plus this picture would be lost in the ether of pure chaos.
I bought the Aiwa CDC-MP3 unit for my car. It's an mp3-cd player: You dump 700M of mp3s onto a 10-cent CD in 5 minutes, and sit back and enjoy about 8-12 hours of music without ever having to switch the disc.
But I was stupid: I bought a refurbished unit. I then took it to Circuit City to install it. Guess what? Circuit City gives you free installation on their stereos. Because I had to pay Circuit City ~$80 to install it, I lost all the money I saved by getting a refurbished unit. And mine definitely skipped more easily than Carolyn's. Discs only tend to last 4-8 months due to the wear-and-tear of bumpy roads on spinning dics... But Carolyn's could often play ones with less skips for months after they got too skippy for me to play themin mine. Grrr.
Nowadays I'd be happy with a USB drive + FM transmitter -- which they do sell for $50 or so.
This is from a set of pictures showing how smashed up the shipping was -- handled poorly by a crappy Ebayer. But the unit still worked. Just not well...

I've always liked how you can remove the 2-5 buttons so people won't steal it. Is there really a demand for the factory installed radio that only fits Ford Foci?

Car stereo audio input in a Saturn Ion I recently rented. Every car should have something like this. (I can't stand all the manufacturers making car stereos that natively support iPods but don't provide simple input options for those of us who think iPods suck.)
