This set of images is a display capturing motion of a subject through several different angles and perspectives. The blur of the subject has been really successful in these images, blurring enough to effectively capture the motion of the subject but not too much as to distort the subject into something incomprehensible.
I am obsessed about capturing every space that I am in. Also I do capture performances or spaces on request for a project. I upload the best of the captures on to FLICKR. From these I select a few to write my blogs about the experience, introspection, learning etc. I also use for executing projects in education, performing arts etc.
I create an annual calendar as a tribute to Indian dance and music
So these select captures showcase the broad perspective and spectrum.

HAMI, May 2, 2015 -- A high-speed train runs past the Tianshan Mountain in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Dec. 3, 2015. Saturday marks the one-year anniversary of the operation of the high-speed railway linking Lanzhou, capital of northwest China's Gansu Province, and Urumqi, capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Short video I did with some special effects. Its a little choppy, but I thought it was kind of amusing. Basically its the prophecy from a story I wrote.
Everybody loves a sunset. Nice colours, warm evenings, beautiful skies. Try capturing one with your camera though, and you may be disapointed. There are a number of techniques you can use to get a better shot. You can ...
- increase the saturation level on your camera to enhance the colours of the image
- be sure you are off "auto" mode as your flash may fire, depending on how bright it is
- include one or more objects in your shot to act as additional subjects other than just the nice colours of the moment
- remember the rule of thirds, don't stick everything in the middle of the frame
- bracket widely if you have no idea how to meter (see below) so that you get at least one terrific shot
- set your white balance to "flash" or "daylight" mode so that the camera doesn't try to strip the colour out of the shot.
- use a tripod if your shutter speed is going to be too slow. Generally sunsets give your good aperture and shutter speed combinations, but after the sun has gone down you will find these settings drop rapidly.
- set your camera to raw from jpegs if you are comfortable with this
- Try spot metering off the sky to determine exposure.
This last technique I rely on almost all the time when shooting sunsets. I switch my camera to manual exposure mode and switch my metering mode from matrix (multipattern) to spot. Then I use Ansel Adam's zone system technique (modified) to get my shot. This is how I do that:
- if the sun is in the image I place the spot metering area of the viewfinder just away from it
- then I set my camera so that the exposure will match that level of brightness (zone 5)
- generally I want that area just a little brighter than this so then I open up one more stop by either reducing my shutter speed or opening up my aperture. This brings overexposes that section of sky just a bit (zone 4)
- this is the exposure setting I use for the camera. I am always happy with the result because, regardless of other things taking place in the image, the effect is consistant.
