@ Greece - Corfu

This photo was taken in a white chapel at the end of a dock. I had a strong greek feeling at around this chapel: white walls, colorful plants, sleeping cats and dogs, as well as bells and a cross at the top of the building.

In late September I again visited Herefordshire and Worcestershire for three days of church-crawling. Several churches I visited were re-visits to capture better pictures than I managed to capture on previous visits. I did also visit some churches for the first time and these turned out to have some treasures of their own.

After visiting All Saints’ church, Church Lench I decided to visit St Peter’s Rous Lench which I had not visited before.

At the time of the Domesday Book the parish of Rous Lench was known as Bishops Lench being part of lands customarily held by the Bishops of Worcester. These lands were leased out to various people and Urse the Sheriff is recorded as holding the parish from the Bishop. It would seem that this was a place of some importance, evidenced by the fine Norman South doorway with a Norman statue of Christ in Majesty above it. From 1397 to 1721 the lords of the Manor were the Rous family hence the modern name for the parish. After 1721 the lords of the manor were members of the Rouse Boughton family until 1876 when the parish was sold to the Rev. W. Chafy Chafy of Sherborne, Dorset. At about that time the Rev. W Chafy Chafy appeared in a list of the great landowners of Great Britain as owning nearly 4,000 acres of land the majority in Worcestershire. In 1884 the Rev. Chafy Chafy engaged Frederick Preedy to restore and enlarge the church. As part of the restoration of the church a mortuary chapel was added on the North side of the church into which monuments to the Rous family were moved in 1885. I suspect that the Rev. W. Chafy Chafy was an Anglo-Catholic high churchman as some of the interior features of the church especially the main altar with a highly decorated aumbry would suggest.

This picture shows the East window of the church. It depicts the Annuciation to the Virgin Mary by the Archangel Gabriel. Pevsner suggests the window dates to 1890 and may be the work of A L Moore but as far as I can see there is no signature.

A moment when it's gone, it's gone forever

I'm finally getting around to processing and editing some of the photos from my trip home to Ohio this past July. This one is of my dad and nephew, playing around at the beach. A couple of surfer dudes, acting out. Ohio, July 4th week, 2012.

There are some things about photogrpahy that we never notice until we view an image large in post processing. Something we weren't expecting to capture that makes the photo more appealling. This is one of the fountains found at the St. Louis Zoo. What I noticed when I went to process it, was that I captured the spectrum from the sun on the mist in front of the fountain. It was a nice addition to the shot and ultimately made me enjoy the shot even more. Hope you all enjoy it too! :)

Captured on Alexandria Shore .

Lake Tahoe, California

Little Melodee was flying around the dance floor till Herb managed to capture her.

Steve 1.0 and I were randomly watching some HD Podcasts of Cali Lewis of www.geekbrief.com on AppleTV from MacWorld and we spotted OURSELVES walking through the frame in one segment. Hilarious! We were cracking up!

This is a video of a bee swarm I captured today. I swept the bee swarm (football size) from an avocado trees branch into a card board box, and then dumped them in from of the "nuc" hive. In no time, the bees quickly marched into their new home. How cool is that!
