Monument Valley was the site of several John Ford movies starring John Wayne. This structure at Goulding’s Lodge stood in front of the Captain’s quarters in “She Wore a Yellow Ribbon”.

Callistemon 'Captain Cook' is a cultivar of the plant genus Callistemon, widely grown as an ornamental plant.
The cultivar originated as a seedling of Callistemon viminalis. It was noted to have a more dwarf and bushy habit than usual and an abundance of flower buds as a young plant.Originally known and sold as 'Compacta', the name was changed to 'Captain Cook' to mark the 1970 bicentennial of James Cook's voyage to Australia. At a later stage, plants grown from seed were distributed under this name, and the true-to-type variety, which can only be propagated from cuttings became difficult to obtain.

A new mural honouring one of Merseyside’s most respected ferry captains has been unveiled on the wall of a Wirral pub.
Created by Merseyside artist BREZ (Adam Bresnen), the artwork at the Master Mariner Bar in New Brighton, celebrates Captain Mike Lowe's life of service to the river and is the first public project by New Brighton Creative Futures CIC — a not-for-profit arts organisation using creativity, design and collaboration to drive community regeneration.

Out of the countless photos I took of this wonderful red dory, I couldn't pick just one...so here is number 3.
*** Calle Obispo, La Habana Vieja, Cuba ***
• Me preguntaba a pesar de lo que esta estatua estaba allí, en medio de la calle más transitada de la Habana Vieja, la calle Obispo. Pero había visto un par de veces antes en Cuba, estos caracteres del traje de papel que pueden permanecer completamente inmóvil durante largos minutos. Después de fotografiar la supuesta estatua y después de algunos pasos de caminar, de repente oí un grito de sorpresa y miedo. Mirando hacia atrás, me di cuenta entonces vi una señora un tanto aturdido, risa, porque ella no esperaba en absoluto para ver la 'estatua' a la vida. Vi varias otras personas que están siendo capturados a partir de entonces. Fue un momento genial !
• I wondered what this statue was doing there, in the middle of the busiest street in Old Havana, calle Obispo. I had seen a few times before in Cuba, these characters in paper suits who can remain completely motionless for long minutes. After photographing the supposed statue and after a few steps, I suddenly heard a scream of terror. Turning around, I then understood when I saw a lady somewhat dazed, giggling because she did not expect at all to see the 'statue' come to life. I saw several other people getting caught afterwards. It was an awesome moment!
• Je me demandais bien qu’est-ce que cette statue faisait là, au beau milieu de la rue la plus achalandée de La Vieille Havane, calle Obispo. J’avais pourtant vu à quelques reprises auparavant à Cuba, ces personnages en costumes de papier qui peuvent rester complètement immobiles durant de longues minutes. Après avoir photographié la supposée statue et après quelques pas de marche, j’entendis tout à coup un cri de frayeur. En me retournant, j’ai alors compris en voyant une dame quelque peu hébétée, pouffer de rire parce qu’elle ne s’attendait pas du tout à voir la ‘statue’ prendre vie. J’ai vu plusieurs autres personnes se faire prendre par la suite. Ce fut un moment génial !

Waiting for the ferry in Molde, we saw this peculiar cloud. "He looks like Captain Blue Ice", my youngest son suddenly said, and I was astonished. He was even slightly blue...

I know these guys are everywhere in Caliornia making holes and lots of noise, but they are so cute. This guy had his foot up in a position that reminded me of the very recognizable logo on the Captain Morgan bottle.
Clown-faced western woodpecker with a complicated social structure, living in small colonies. Best known for its habit of hoarding acorns: the birds drill small holes in a dead snag, then harvest acorns in fall and store them in these holes, to be eaten during winter. Such a "granary tree" may be used for generations and may be riddled with up to 50,000 holes. Nesting is a group activity, with several adults (up to 12 or more) taking part in incubating the eggs and feeding the young in a single nest.
