Like most December acorns, all that's left are the caps. The squirrels have eaten the nutmeat or stored it away for the long winter.
Cap steak over roasted carmelized beets, garlic, mini-carrots, and tiny potatoes. It had some kind of whipped butter on top...this was insanely good!!!!
I had one of the most amazing dining experiences of my life tonight, a 5 course meal at The Prado Restaurant in the middle of Balboa Park. My friends Man is the Sous Chef, we sat down and he sent all sorts of amazing food out to us.
The Dusky-capped Flycatcher is a lot smaller than our other Myiarchus flycatchers, has less rufous in the tail than all except La Sagra's, and more yellow on the belly than Ash-throated and La Sagra's. Busy foraging while we watched, making a photo difficult. Taken across the road from Mallard Lake, in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco.
During the breeding season, Black-capped Chickadees are territorial, but they form flocks in the winter. Black-capped Chickadees often forage in birch or alders by hopping on twigs and branches and gleaning their surfaces for food. Often they hang upside-down to get at the undersides of branches and leaves, but they also hover, probe, and occasionally fly out to catch aerial prey.
El Cap Creus es la última aparición de los Pirineos y el punto más al este de la península ibérica.
A 1 hora y 15 min de mi casa :D
A bird almost universally considered “cute” thanks to its oversized round head, tiny body, and curiosity about everything, including humans. The chickadee’s black cap and bib; white cheeks; gray back, wings, and tail; and whitish underside with buffy sides are distinctive. Its habit of investigating people and everything else in its home territory, and quickness to discover bird feeders, make it one of the first birds most people learn.
