The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge was born in 1915 from Tent City - a group of 10 large tents and a dining tent on the shore of Lac Beauvert In 1921 Canadian National Railways took over Tent City. They renovated the existing camp to eight log cabins, and opened in 1922. At the time the main building was touted as the largest single-storey log structure in the world.

CNR hired golf architect Stanley Thompson in the 1920’s to build Jasper’s world-famous golf course. The golf course hugs snow capped mountains, meanders past glacial-fed lakes and through a wildlife corridor featuring elk, caribou, bears and wolves. It took a total of 50 teams of horses and over 200 men working in unison to clear the land of boulders and debris. As a result, the par 71 course features elevated tee boxes, dramatic bunkers and vistas that scan the surrounding mountain peaks.

In 1952 the original main building was destroyed by a fire. By the next summer Jasper Park Lodge’s new main building was completed. In 1988 the Jasper Park Lodge went from a summer resort to a four season resort.

The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge continues to be a year round destination resort and consists of the main building and 56 adjacent cedar cabins for a total room count of 446 all located within 700 secluded acres in the heart of Jasper National Park.

In 2015 French-based hotel chain Accorhotels SA purchased for nearly $3 billion dozens of luxury Fairmont Hotels including the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge and Fairmont Banff Springs. Malvaviscus drummondii (M. arboreus var. drummondii)

Malvaceae

One of Texas' best loved and most used flowering ornamentals hails from a variety of habitats: sandy low grounds near streams, limestone slopes around wooded creeks and even palm groves provide fertile ground for turk's cap. It ranges from the Texas Coastal Plain, east to Florida and also to the West Indies, Mexico and Cuba.

Its vermillion red flowers are twisted into a tube showing extended red stamens protruding from the whorl. Although drought tolerant as far west as Midland, turk's cap also tolerates Houston's 'gumbo' soil and high heat, and is especially welcome in shady sites.

The marble-size red fruit is edible, having a mealy taste, and is enjoyed by a number of birds and animals. The flowers provide nectar to eager ruby-throated hummingbirds and several species of butterflies.

This is the stock GS3 Group Cap. Looks nice, right? In this light, I'd say pretty good. The shape is attractive, the finish seems nice...

Cap Bon-Désir, Québec : un cétacé s'approche de la côte. À cet endroit, le fleuve Saint-Laurent est très profond, très près de la côte : ce qui fait que les baleines s'aventurent près du rivage et offrent un beau spectacle! :)
