Shot during my 3.5 weeks vacation in the west of the US. We've visited one of the beaches near of our motel in San Simeon to enjoy the sunset. I love the result, this peaceful moment captured for infinity.

Low tide revealed interesting patterns accentuated by the rising sun.
I really liked the deep golden colors in the wet mud.
It was sheer luck that I was able to capture this, read my latest blog post here

The Marble Boat also known as the Boat of Purity and Ease is a lakeside pavilion on the grounds of the Summer Palace in Beijing, China.
It was first erected in 1755 during the reign of the Qianlong Emperor. The original pavilion was made from a base of large stone blocks which supported a wooden superstructure done in a traditional Chinese design.

From the edge of Litlefjellet (800 m./2625 ft.), which is a part of Romsdal Alps,
looking towards Romsdalshorn (1550 m./5085 ft.) on the left, and Trollveggen (1700 m./5577 ft.),
also called The Troll Wall, to the right in the distance.
Trollveggen is the tallest vertical rock face in Europe (approx. 1100 m./3600 ft.) and at its steepest,
the summit overhangs the base of the wall by nearly 50 m. (160 ft.). Norway, June 2011.
This is a stock image.
This is from my recent trip to Romsdal Alps which is a 6 hour drive (west) from my home.
The mountain hiking I did there left deep impressions on me, despite the rain and wind,
and I am already planning to go back. This photograph was made at the edge of Litlefjellet during one of the mornings when the sky cleared up.

Wind and reflected light over sastrugi on Norefjell mountain range, Norway. March 2011.
Spring has changed a lot since these last photographs were made and very soon I will be able to hike
(instead of skiing) in this particular mountain range of Norefjell. Spring also got hold of my mind some weeks ago and I have now totally left winter behind.
I`ve also decided to take on some new challenges regarding locations this spring/summer. More about this later on.
Wish all of my Flickr friends a Happy Spring!

Autumn birches in full splendor together with the first snow is a rare sight. The silent morning fog added a dreamy atmosphere to an already breathtaking scenery.

Vlatka Horvat, "This Here and That There," an 8-hour performance.
This Here and That There – Herrenhauses Quartett
Vlatka Horvat
Performance / Installation
20. Mai 2018

Hadrian's Wall passes along the top of the crags, which are formed from a dolerite named 'Whin Sill'.
Wikipedia (edited): "Crag Lough is an inland lake at the southern edge of Northumberland National Park. At this point Hadrian's Wall is at the top of a line of crags, with Crag Lough at the foot of the crags."

One of the many glories of the Florentine Rinascimento is the portrait-bust; this work by Andrea del Verrocchio is a superb example, showing the influence of contemporary painting from north of the Alps.
(Wikipedia)
The Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal. Probably the most spectacular church I've seen in North America.

Lofty view towards Geirangerfjorden (UNESCO World Heritage Site) from Dalsnibba Peak (1495 m./4904 ft.), Norway. August 2008.
This one is from my Geiranger-archives.
This spring/summer, two of my trips are Molladalen and Romsdalseggen, which also are located in western Norway like Geiranger. Both locations are spectacular, lofty and surrounded by wild mountains, beautiful fjords and waterfalls. Really looking forward to photograph Trollveggen (Troll Wall) which is the tallest vertical rock face in Europe (about 1100 m./3600 ft.) amongst other peaks.

Wikipedia: "Bishop William of St. Calais demolished the old Saxon church, and on 11 August 1093, together with Prior Turgot of Durham (Aldwin's successor), he laid the foundation stone of the great new cathedral. [ . . . ] Since that time many major additions and reconstructions of parts of the building have been made, but the greater part of the structure remains the original Norman structure."
(This clear account of the geographical situation of the building isn't to be found in the English Wiki).
UNESCO: "Durham Cathedral is the largest and most perfect monument of ‘Norman’ style architecture in England. The small astral (castle) chapel for its part marks a turning point in the evolution of 11th century Romanesque sculpture. [ . . . ] Though some wrongly considered Durham Cathedral to be the first ‘Gothic’ monument (the relationship between it and the churches built in the Île-de-France region in the 12th century is not obvious), this building, owing to the innovative audacity of its vaulting, constitutes, as do Spire [Speyer] and Cluny, a type of experimental model which was far ahead of its time."
