I was very tired this morning but I wanted to catch a sunrise, my first sunrise this year. There was no sun to see only a lot of clouds. But the atmosphere at the lake was lovely. Cheers!

The ruins of the West pier in Brighton:
On 28 March 2003 the pavilion at the pierhead caught fire. Fire crews were unable to save the building from destruction because the collapsed walkway prevented them from reaching it.
Even then, it was clear what the damage caused by the flames would be. West Pier in Brighton whose reconstruction would consume enormous sums of money. And so the existing remains of the pier are almost without remembrance of the splendor of bygone eras abandoned to decay.

Im Jahr 2002 konnte man Bilder in den Medien sehen, die den brennenden Pier zeigten. Schon damals war klar, wie hoch der durch die Flammen verursachte Schaden sein würde. Die Rede ist von der West Pier in Brighton - ein denkmalgeschütztes Bauwerk, dessen heutiger Wiederaufbau Unsummen verschlingen würde. Und so sind die vorhandenen Reste der Pier fast ohne jede Erinnerung an den Glanz vergangener Zeiten dem Verfall preisgegeben.
