I grew up playing with and loving Hot Wheels toy cars. We didn't have much money when I was a kid, and you could get a very cool car that you could drive really fast for not that much cash. used my Tamron 90mm macro lens, a flash, and piece of black Plexiglass to capture the car and its reflection.

As I get better at editing my photos, I like to go back to some of the older images, that I think I can finally do some justice to and rework them.
Was able to photograph a couple beautiful models at the Neon Museum, downtown Las Vegas, Nevada.

Construction Yard worker had left pump pumping water and part of the water sprinkled into the fence, making nice cone pattern.

For a wile now I have been working on a project that I want to turn into a book. It is about toys of my youth.. We grew up pore so it is more about toys I wish I would have had, not ones that I actually did have. This is a series of Lego People. Growing up I only had one set of Lego, I got for Christmas one year, and it did not have any people. I created many things with the limited amount of those plastic building blocks I did have.

The autumn colors made an earlier than usual appearance in Vermont, I assume because of large amounts of rain and flooding that occurred during the year. This photo was taken in the rural town of East Albany, Vermont. One thing that hasn't changed in these small towns is the friendliness of the people. I asked the owner of the barn in front if he minded if I took a photo. He had no issue with that and even let me park my vehicle in a small lot there. He told me he raises cattle during the summer and works in the governor's office in Montpelier for most of the remainder of the year.

Well yeh, I don’t have glasses, but it wasn’t me spotting this little white create from a 100m+ distance.
And we just talked about it. Would be great to spot a Least Weasel (Mustela nivalis) now that they are white and no permanent snow on the forest floor yet. I wasn’t convinced this was the right environment, but still, keep on hoping. Well, Pauli spotted something little and white... and it was moving. That was 2-3 minutes after that conversation. Hallucinations...but we walked with our gear in that direction anyway and there it was, the cutest little Least Weasel I have ever seen.

The Milky shines over the tiny town of Stark, New Hampshire, population 478 as of the last census. Shown in the photo is the Stark Union Church and the Stark Covered Bridge, with the Stark Town Office in between. The photo was taken from the property of the Stark Village Inn, which I believe is the only public business in the town. The town's total area is just under 60 square miles, much of which is within the White Mountain National Forest of New Hampshire.

February 2021, Photo Tour to Kuusamo, Finland - image 13:
Driving around in the wider area of Kuusamo during an early morning usually results in a couple of good photographic opportunities; Black Grouse, Hazel Grouse or then in this case a Western Capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus). This one flew off and merged the images (in total I had 8) into one image. Just for fun.

I recently went up the Mt. Washington Auto Road on their SnowCoach. It was a fun trip. The vehicle holds 7 passengers. The driver provided interesting info during the entire trip.
The triangular treaded wheels on the SnowCoach were awkward on the bare road at the lodge, but provided excellent traction once we got on snow, i.e. across the street at the base of the auto road. The auto road is 16 feet wide and now 100% paved (there used to be a section of dirt road near the top). The total length of the auto road is 7.6 miles.
The SnowCoach only goes to 4200 feet, at which point there is a sign saying "Winter Cut-Off". That is where I took this photo. The altitude at the summit is 6288 feet. Tree line is about 4400 feet.
They also have a vehicle called a SnowCat that they use to get to the summit. The SnowCat has a blade for plowing and is able to groom all parts of the auto road.
The summit of Mount Washington is home to the Mount Washington Observatory staff, who live there for a week at a time before switching to a different crew. In the winter, they make their way back to civilization via the SnowCat.
In the photo, turning left would bring you to the summit. The summit is quite a bit higher than what you see in the center of the photo. We turned right to go back down the auto road.
Some interesting weather facts:
- In 1934, a wind gust of 231 mph was recorded at the weather station at the summit of Mount Washington, a world record for the highest wind gust ever recorded on the Earth's surface. That record was subsequently broken in 1996 when a gust of 253 mph was clocked off the coast of Australia during Tropical Cyclone Olivia.
- On February 4, 2023 the observatory measured a wind chill factor of minus 108 F degrees, the lowest wind chill ever recorded in the United States (including Alaska).
- Just a few weeks ago, on February 17, 2025, a wind gust of 161 mph was recorded at the observatory, the highest in 6 years, at which time there was a gust of 171 mph.
And finally, there are quite a few places on the drive up where if a vehicle goes over the edge on the right, it is straight down and a long way down. There are no guard rails anywhere along the route. I was therefore surprised to find the following question and answer on the Mt. Washington Auto Road website:
"BE HONEST, HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE DIED RIDING ON THE AUTO ROAD?
Over more than 150 years, there have been three fatalities on the Auto Road. In 1880, a stage overturned (in the hands of a drunk driver), and a passenger was killed. In 1984, a vehicle experienced brake failure about a mile up the road and was unable to make it down safely. And a motorcyclist suffered a fatal crash in 2009."

So I finally broke down and got myself a true Macro 1:1 lens. I got the Tamron SP 90 mm F/2.8 Di Macro 1:1 VC USD lens for my Canon 5D mark4 for an early Christmas present for myself. I am not disappointed. Beautiful lens that took amazing images. Gerber Daisy using a focus rail and focus stacking.
I am happy. Merry Christmas to me.
