A lighthouse is a tower, building, or other type of structure designed to emit light from a system of lamps and lenses and used as an aid to navigation for maritime pilots at sea or on inland waterways.
Lighthouses mark dangerous coastlines, hazardous shoals, reefs, safe entries to harbors, and can also assist in aerial navigation. Once widely used, the number of operational lighthouses has declined due to the expense of maintenance and replacement by modern electronic navigational systems.

Waardenburg Castle, locally known as Kasteel Waardenburg, lies next to the village of Waardenburg, in the province of Gelderland in the Netherlands.
Waardenburg Castle nowadays is a remnant of a castle with a polygonal shape dating back to around 1283.
The castle was preceded by a wooden castle built in 1265. It was then known as Hiern Castle, named after the hill is was built on. This wooden castle was founded by a Rudolf Cock. His ancestors owned the castle until 1401, which was then known as Weerdenbergh Castle. This name translates as "washland hill".
During the Eighty Years War, in the 16th century, Waardenburg Castle was taken by surprise and pillaged. The castle was heavily damaged in the process; only its heavy walls and the shells of the towers survived. The castle remained a ruin until 1627 when a Johan Vijgh gained ownership and started partially rebuilding the castle. During this rebuilding the bailey and the south wing, in which the entrance gate was situated, were completely demolished.
In the following centuries the castle was successively owned by the Aylva and Van Pallandt families.
Even in 1895 the eastern wing of the castle was enlarged and fitted with a little round stair tower.
Today Waardenburg Castle lies separated from the river Waal by a dike. But in earlier centuries the river flowed by its walls. In 2011 the castle was refurbished. Waardenburg Castle is now owned by the "Friends of the Castles of Gelderland"-foundation and used as an office. It cannot be visited.
Its exact location is at G.E.H. Tutein Noltheniuslaan 7 in Waardenburg.
Another foolish time standing in the middle of the road, trying to get a great vanishing point shot. This one was a little more harried because of the mass of traffic that kept appearing just as I was lining things up.
Today I'm proposing you again a manual HDR night shot but with a slightly
different treatment.
I'm blending my different exposures manually in Photoshop, loadint them in
a stack and then auto aligning them before playing with the layers order,
blending modes, opacity and masks.
Comparing to the previous night shots, the treatment on this one was mich
much harder as the light spectrum was very wide here but also the scene has
a lot of details. The treatment has been very tedious, I worked with 6
different exposures in RAW but with several blendin modes for some of them
so at the end I used more than 20 layers!
I shot this scene in February in London from the Millenium Bridge, it
depicts a night view of the Shard Tower, the Tower Bridge, the London
Bridge in the background abd their reflections on the Thames in the
foreground.
The light beam on the left side in the sky comes from the dome of St Paul's
Cathedral.
I hope you'll like it! If so, please fave it pressing F and leave me some
personal feedback, I'll appreciate it very much! :)
Thank you!!

Looking towards the Norber Erratics and a typical Dales landscape of walled fields and barns. I like the way in the Dales man-made objects fit so naturally into (and often make) the view.

A short series with theme; The Other Side.
A very bright moon setting behind the distinct outline of Scafell, with the bulk of Scafell Pike to the left. The halo is caused by the moon reflecting ice crystals in the atmosphere. Taken around 3am. There is some noise in the image but overall quite a unique shot!
Ice etched in intricate designs
on the window by which I stand,
trying to catch the elusive
brilliance of winter's light
on a carefully held prism
Coaxing rays of crystalline
luminosity to paint
my world with pretty colors
and vibrant hues -
to cover and distort
my inner pain and give
credence to my facade.
But the winter light is shadowed
by blues and grays, casting
a hazy fog over all that I know,
and those brilliant colors
coninue to dance
away, far away,
leaving me still standing
by a frosty window,
shivering and cold,
praying for the warmth
of summer days.

Coming back home for my dinner with my dad and my sis', on the Place de la Nation, I played a little with the focus.
Not the greatest shot on earth, but still a funny thing to do !
Tendresse & Papouilles.
For some reason I see that pollen and I imagine candy!!
Had a long photo session yesterday but not to much avail since the light was not that good and I had lots of trouble focusing which led to a bunch of blurry pictures LOL. I will give it another try today and see what happens, hopefully I will get it right this time:)
Hope you guys are having a good weekend so far :D
