I remember as a child,

And even yet today,

The beauty and splendor,

Of a freshly fallen snow.

Walking through the forest,

And gazing down

Into the wintered valley below,

I was struck with awe.

A breathtaking beauty laid before my eyes.

No indiscriminately placed fluff,

But a covering fashioned by the Master,

Was enrapturing my senses.

Evergreen branches covered in white,

And dripping icicles

Reflecting the new day’s sun,

Created a world of crystalline beauty.

Down in the valley,

I saw blanketed fields and rooftops,

And chimney smoke spiraling upward.

I felt peace and serenity before me,

As the magnificence of the view

Touched my heart.

The quiet and pristine picture

Brushed by the Master’s hand,

Is more majestic and mighty

With the exception of a few species that have adapted to daytime hunting, most snakes do not see well. Generally they can see shapes but not details.

This poor eyesight probably owes to their evolutionary history as burrowers, living in the dark where eyes weren't much use.

Snakes called pit vipers can see well at night by an amazing trick. Their pits (one on each side of the head) sense heat (infrared light) like night vision goggles. These pits, not eyes, actually are thought to render images of prey in the snakes' brains.

Interestingly, Cobras' senses are sharp enough to aim for the eyes when spitting venom. They know, apparently, that the venom will blind a human or other foe.

Domburg got about 1200 all city rights. The most beautiful view over Domburg and environment you get from the high Hil. From the village you walk left the dunes to reach the high Hil.
