Ling Ling is best friend, companion and so much more to my daughter, Katia Solomon. Katia has fought cancer, treatments, transplant rejection and many side effects since age 2 in 2002. She has many delays and stopped growing at age 3. Ling Ling literally fell off our roof at 3 weeks old. He was and is her gift from God. She is my hero:)

My ultimate goal is to have a camp for amputee children that would include sports, meditation, self-reflection, and self-esteem. It is important to help them be strong, to show them how to deal with all that they have lost, and to let them know that they can lead a normal life. My amputation never hindered me. I did all the things a normal teenage girl would do. I still ski and swim, and I recently started playing tennis again in a wheelchair.
Ybor City was established in the 1880's consisting of mostly immigrants from Cuba, Spain, Italy & more. Many of these migrants worked in cigar factories rolling millions of cigars for decades.
Ybor City is unique.

I'm not sure which version I like more the faded looking one is with an old glow stick and the bright one is a new glow stick.
After cancer I developed a pain in my stomach that lasted 3 years my doctor told me it's just in your head. I went to another doctor who seemed more interested and I asked if I could see a nutritionist since I knew my diet wasn't good, turns out I wasn't getting enough fiber and that pain in my stomach really was in my stomach and not my head, I don't get that pain any more. Sometimes you just need another opinion.

To which I replied... :) You're absolutely 100% correct Stuart :) (giggle) I've never denied that I'm a promoter. I have had my own business since 1984. When you're the CEO of a company, aren't you supposed to promote your company? I see everyone else doing the same with their own businesses. Since when is that an issue? I promote other people, other states, news etc. Quit frankly, I work hard and I'm proud of the work that I do. I don't see anyone else out there with the guts to be on the front lines and take the hits. I don't know many people that LIVE with cancer and continue to try to be productive and work as much as I do. Tooting my own horn, You're damn right. :) Loud and proud my brothers and sisters. When I was 7 my best friend died from cancer. The last weeks of his life he was paralyzed which led me to wonder what would he be like in Heaven would he look the way he did before he was sick, would he no longer need a wheelchair, "Could he run in Heaven?"

Wishing this was what my biopsy slide looked like instead of the nasty cancer cells. The original diagnosis was exactly four years ago. I have one more year until I can say I am cured.

The only difference between a researcher and a patient is a diagnosis. . I think we have to go beyond finding the cure, with all of its collateral damage, to finding the cause. We have to stop people from getting cancer in the first place.
Having cancer myself has given me a new sense of urgency. We have a limited number of days in our lives—you become more aware of that—and if I’m going to spend them coming to work, then I’m not going to be just diddling around.
I often tell my daughter that whether it’s changing the world or having a good time, we should not put off what we think we should do. You never know when you will be caught up short with a serious disease. We are all patients eventually!
I drink the expensive wine now.

To which I replied... :) You're absolutely 100% correct Stuart :) (giggle) I've never denied that I'm a promoter. I have had my own business since 1984. When you're the CEO of a company, aren't you supposed to promote your company? I see everyone else doing the same with their own businesses. Since when is that an issue? I promote other people, other states, news etc. Quit frankly, I work hard and I'm proud of the work that I do. I don't see anyone else out there with the guts to be on the front lines and take the hits. I don't know many people that LIVE with cancer and continue to try to be productive and work as much as I do. Tooting my own horn, You're damn right. :) Loud and proud my brothers and sisters. Week 22 out of 52 Weeks for Dogs for my Zooie.
Zooie continues to be the picture of health and I am so grateful. I don't want to forget about the horrible cancer that grew inside him. My vet and my vet oncologist said that if the cancer returns it will probably show up where it grew before. So...everyday I gently but thoroughly rub Zooie's scar and the area around it to feel for any lumps, bumps or irregularities. We are now at almost 10 months since diagnosis and my precious boy is a blessing everyday.
As you may have noticed, I haven't been back up to my usual activity on flickr. For the first time I missed a week for my Zooie. Still playing catch-up. Still rather swamped. Still missing checking in on everyones photos. Stay well and kiss your fur kids.
