On Sunday 17th of February, Samuel Johnson arrived in Beaufort on the Ballarat to Beaufort leg of his round Australia ride, to raise $1million for cancer research.

A great turnout by the people of Beaufort to welcome Sam, even if he did have to "sing for his supper" and complete 3 challenges, to earn $1000 from the local branch of the Bendigo Bank. The final total raised for the night was around $2200.

More information about the ride can be found on the Love Your Sister website www.loveyoursister.org

If you would like to donate to this very worthy cause you can do so here www.giving.garvan.org.au/loveyoursister

The Beaufort Fire Brigade was on hand to help Sam get cleaned up after the Vegemite challenge.

St Andrews University student Jethro Dowell spent his 22nd birthday on Friday (February 18th) shaving his girlfriend's hair to raise funds for AICR.

And despite a captive audience in The Union TV room, he kept a steady hand and even managed the odd one-liner as he first cut, then shaved Naomi Brown's hair.

Naomi (21) had set a target of £300 for her fund-raising effort, but with money still coming in, she looks to be on track to raise much more.
