This Great Blue Heron kept ducking in and out of the heavy brush and popped out long enough to get a shot.

To take a photograph is to align the head, the eye and the heart. It's a way of life. (Henri Cartier-Bresson)

I'm so aware of what I deserve

I should be drowning in the red sea tonight

But so aware of what you impart

Took Lucy for a walk to the park where she got a thorough brushing.

This is my Dads old camera, i think it's even his first one. Decades ago, when i was a teenager, he lent it to me. Back in that time, i was occasionally taking the one or other photo using a simple, cheap instamatic point-and-shoot-camera, just to take a memory. One day he put that chunk of a camera into my hands, said "Try it out for a couple of weeks, son!", and gave me a crash course in using the cumbersome exposure meter and the basics of shutter speed and aperture.

And when i looked through the viewfinder the very first time, and watched the wandering of the sharpness while i turned the focus ring, i was hooked. Fascination caught me, and that moment was the beginning of something wonderful for me.

My Dad passed away a few months ago, and in his legacies i found the camera. Holding it in my hands again was a time travel back to that moments.

Dad, by introducing me to the basics of photography you gave a marvellous gift to me. Since then, photography went along with me all my life, through ups and downs, through moments and places. And i'm still learning, and enjoying, and exploring - and smiling.
