Playing with my macro rings a little more and caught a glimpse of my trusty desktop calculator glowing under the yellow light of the desk lamp.

I remember that when calculators came out, and the children had them in school, they would write messages using the characters.

I did an embarrassing amount of my pre-GCSE maths on this thing. My dad doesn't believe in replacing things as long as they're still working. It only displays 8 digits maximum.

Upclose of Marky calculator

I took this weeks theme very literally, so this image was taken today at my work with my little p&s camera. It's my calculator on my desk, the light and reflections are from my office window.

And as you can see, the calculator very dusty, even though I work with numbers, I don't use it very often :)

Happy MM!

This is a cake I made for my sis-in-law's 40th birthday. She is a bookkeeper. Everything's edible.

I owe special thanks to Karen (Cakebaker_Cakemaker) who also did a calculator cake recently.

www.flickr.com/photos/28032559@N00/4994905085/in/faves-cr... I really wanted to use a different style of image so it wasn't so similar, but this one was the best I could find!

This cake was done in a bit of a rush as I was extremely sick earlier this week with a severe case of Tonsillitis, which is why I've been absent from Flickr a bit! Almost all better now though! :-)

Just for fun... a macro shot of a hand-painted female figure. The miniature HO-scale woman is 1 and 3/8s of an inch tall and sitting on a four inch calculator.

Vintage calculator, the Superlectron model 8. This calculator is from 1974, and in perfect working condition. It runs (normally) on a 9 volt battery.

What the heck is it?

Apparently it's a vintage calculator. I never knew of such things. Follow the link below - very cool looking.

31 year old HP 12-C Calculator, dust and all. This thing got me through college. This was retired long ago but I stumbled across it the other day.

The angle of the light was the most challenging aspect of this photo. The number keys are flat on top and then a bevel down on the bottom of the key, so too much reflection on the number keys if not at the right angle. I was able to get no reflections using a low straight on angle, but the picture looked flat. So I settled on this one with some highlights in the middle of the number keys.

The 3cm diameter exposure calculator on the back of my Zero Image pinhole camera is very useful.

However, the printing is so small that I cannot read it. I was able to find a 10cm diameter wooden exposure calculator that is much easier to read.
