opening night. when i first moved to windsor i hated this ugly eyesore of a building, but it's begun to grow on me, which means i may be turning into a true windsorite. peter and i have only been inside once, at 3 in the morning with phil and lisa while walking home drunk from downtown, and only then because phil was hungry and i had to pee. it was eerily empty and quiet inside at 3 in the morning, until we turned a corner into a giant room where row upon row of glassy-eyed old ladies robotically pushed the buttons that slowly sucked out all of their savings. peter did some quick mental calculations to figure out how much money a person could lose in one minute of button-pushing, and we beat a frightened retreat, never to return.
it'll be interesting to see if the place continues to bring in the calibre of performers they've got lined up for the first few months. not that much of the current lineup is to my taste, exactly (billy joel played last night for the grand opening) but still. not a lot of big names come to our town.

Abstract - This article presents a new hypothesis about the urban arrangement and function of the southeast end of the Forum of Caesar, together with the Forum of Augustus, the Curia Julia and the present-day church of SS. Luca e Martina, when the area was finalized in 2 BCE. The analysis focuses on the geometric framework of the extant structures and the topography of the site and, in relation to them, a new interpretation of the historical records and the archaeological data. It demonstrates that Augustus and his architects authored the urban composition and architectural forms of the entire area, including making significant changes to the original design of the Forum of Caesar. The article also shows that the site of the church of SS. Luca e Martina was the location of the Augustan Chalcidicum, which served as the monumental entrance to the first two Imperial fora.

ENGLISH = ‘An archaeological site survey allows for the detection of stratigraphic relationships, locations of archaeological finds, materials, building and manufacturing techniques and it is an essential stage in the understanding and interpreting of evolutionary phases, in space and time. The analysis of the architectural history of an archaeological site cannot be based only on the ‘extrinsic documentation’, derived from iconography and archive-documentary sources. Instead, it should have recourse to the analysis of the preserved architectural text.’

He was located at the corner of Broad and College in downtown. In 2010, most of the "dawgs" were sold for charity and moved from downtown.

Caesar is a ventriloquist's dummy with big ideas. He must have watched too many gangster movies and, as a result, developed a talent for manipulating humans into committing crimes. The star of the 1964 Twilight Zone episode Caesar and Me now resides at the bottom of a dark elevator shaft in the Hollywood Tower Hotel.
