The sun was setting on the car show when I stumbled upon this hidden gem. The depth-of-field on this is intentional, mind you- that's the original windshield and the paneling on the body itself has never been replaced, only repainted. In California, that's pretty rare!
*EDIT* Thanks to a commenter who kindly informed me that this is a Cadillac and not a Plymouth, as I had originally stated. This just goes to show that I only know when a car is pretty, and none of the technical aspects. :D

Unimpressed by that expensive, slick new EF100mm f/2.8L Macro lens that Santa brought you for Xmas?
Well, simply take a big hammer and smash all the fancy optical glass and internal AF gubbins out of it and recycle it as a really useful "pencil caddy" for your desk!
Don't worry - it's an amusing novelty item from Hong Kong (use it as a coffee mug or pencil holder) - Ah, ha!

Super cool recolour of the insatiably well liked Hot Wheels VW Caddy which returns for 2019. This casting has never been 100% stock in its appearance as that isn't the HW way but has been mostly left alone meaning plenty of opportunity to admire its sharp clean exterior which has been given a little helping hand in the detailing department thanks to Dr Molotow. Can you imagine the ultra middle class VW Golf being made into a pick-up these days!
Sold as a single but this particular example came in a 10 vehicle set found at Smyths Toys. Mint and boxed.

Mahogany and pine tea caddy, c. 1825-1850. Box is a late Sheraton, early Empire design made to look like a small bureau with five faux drawers and pulls (one pull missing). Caddy top is a replacement thin piece of pine with "A.H. Jones" penciled on underside. Evidence of a morticed lock inside front panel; no lock on replacement lid. Interior divided into two equal spaces. Hinges later brass, crudely mounted. Origin; USA, NY or N.E.

As of February 2016 the latest Hot Wheels batches in our U.K. stores appear to be the one which contained this maroon VW Caddy and that came out back in Nov/Dec!! I bought this particular one back in December but they can still be found very easily in most HW stockists. As ever this is an appealing little casting of a very cool little pick-up which is now on its third colour variant. Being a Hot Wheels model it predictably as a slightly customised look to it with flared arches but the overall shape is accurate with some nice tampo work to the front end. Mint and boxed.

Hand sewn hexie pin cushion caddy. I've been drooling over all the ones I've been seeing on here lately and just had to make one. I couldn't find a pattern that made one small enough to suit me, so I made my own. Finished size is 3" tall & 5.5" wide with a storage opening just under 3" across. I filled the bottom with flax seed before topping it off with fiberfill, so it is heavy enough to double as a pattern weight.

But seriously, if the car is too much of everything (including garage space) and you still want just one nice Cadillac piece from the past, you might be able to find one of these with age and patina, clean it, and then make a base that won't compete for curves and shine.
(This is a block of Delrin, just long enough to keep her securely upright, with mounting through the base, sanded & smoothed but not polished.)
