This 59 Caddy looked alittle different from the others with its big black wheels and Tyres and could easy be a 'moonshine' runner -better than the endless modern yanks that were there -especially late model Mustangs!

A little different look at my car.

Alan Caddy’s “gold mounted baton goading his orchestra into a faithful rendering of whatever sound is currently sending the record buying masses into a frenzy” it says on the back sleeve. Rock n Roll, phew…

The third generation of Volkswagen Caddy debuted in the end of 2003, at the RAI Commercial Vehicle Show in Amsterdam, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles debuted the Typ 2K Caddy panel van.

The Typ 2K shares 50% of its modules with the Volkswagen Golf Mk5 and Volkswagen Touran. The new model Caddy has a more aerodynamic design, the angle of the windscreen and A pillar is more horizontal, making the dashboard bigger and the bonnet (hood) smaller.

The full Caddy line up is pretty versatile. There are two body sizes: "normal" and Maxi. These can both be configured as a Panel Van, a Window Panel Van, Kombi (spartan passenger version), Caddy Life (family version), and a Camping version called the Caddy Tramper or Caddy Life Camper.

A Caddy Life or Kombi seats up to five in two rows while a Caddy Life Maxi or Kombi Maxi seats up to seven in three rows. The Life version has interior trimmings like that of a conventional five seater wagon while the Kombi is a naked panel van with windows and seats. The difference in road noise between the two is described by some as substantial.

In 2015, a Volkswagen Caddy taxi was badly damaged when TransAsia Flight 235 clipped it before crashing into a river in Taiwan. The occupants in the taxi were not killed.

This weekend finds me in Bozeman, MT. I got to help some old friends. Marsha and Doug from ƒ/11 Photo, asked me to come to town and speak to their customers. I had a wonderful time!

On Sunday, I was able to sneak in some image making time and was shown a very cool old junk yard. I was like a kid in a candy store!!

The macro on this camera continues to impress me.

Dating from one of my personal favourite periods of Matchbox history, this 2008 VW Caddy was actually bought brand new in October 2014 from my local WHSmith store. A great example of the breadth of different licensed vehicles Matchbox were making at the time, this VW Caddy is both very well detailed and cast. Its crazy how this level of attention to detail and subject matter has declined sharply for the Matchbox brand in latter years. Mint and boxed.

Just the car to have to glide around Portlandia in style.

Such is the strange distribution of Mattel products that it took a holiday to Spain to get hold of some of the very latest batched Hot Wheels models. One of the most eagerly awaited for me is the new VW Caddy casting. Absolutely brilliant and yet another very inspired choice for the Hot Wheels brand with its ultra cool styling and aura. Very well detailed with its black grille, lights and VW badge. This has already proved very popular with collectors.

Mint and boxed.

There looked to be a nucleus of VW enthusiasm here.

The Caddy was in nice condition, andlooked original.

From www.mpgomatic.com

"The VW Rabbit Pickup was a unique small truck and produced great mileage figures for two key reasons. Unlike the competing Toyota Hi-Lux, Datsun (now Nissan), Mazda, Chevrolet Luv (Isuzu), and Ford Courier (Mazda), the Rabbit Pickup wasn't built on a true truck frame ... it was car based, in a manner somewhat similar to the Chevy El Camino. But it was the Rabbit Pickup's 1.6 liter diesel engine that made this little truck a penny pincher's delivery dream truck. While no speed demon, the 4-cylinder diesel put out plenty of grunt to propel the tiny light truck around town.

Although production of the Rabbit Pickup at the Westmoreland VW Plant ceased in 1982, VW built pickups (with the Caddy badge) in Sarajevo, Bosnia, and Herzegovina, through 1992. VW continues to build pickups in South Africa.

The twenty-five year old VW Rabbit Pickup delivers nearly double the gas mileage of some of today's highest mileage pickups. Alas, VW stopped selling the pickup here in the States after selling through the domestically produced units. The company chose not to import the European- or South African-built pickups."

This certainly looked out of place surrounded by all the other cars in the car park!

This VW Caddy van came to us with just plylining and we sound proofed the vehicle with anti-vibration sound deadening pads and carpet lining on the plyline panels.

Well I don't think it will win me the Customiser Of The Year Award but a little bit of easy detailing has transformed the front end of this latest Hot Wheels VW Caddy in to the model it should always have been. Some of the earlier editions of this casting had full frontal tampo detailing and looked so much better for it, its something this highly original and certainly extremely cool model deserves especially as this recolour looks to be one of its best so far. Looking beautifully squared up and well cast in a lightly modified Hot Wheels kinda way. Another J Case find from ASDA. Mint and boxed.

The Alan Caddy Orchestra & Singers, ‘6 Top Hits EP’, 1971. Six more cover-version songs, ”in the style of the originals”, for 30p. Eclectic mix ranging from George “I Was in The Beatles” Harrison, Gilbert O’Sullivan and Slade, reflecting the diversity of the charts back then. Groovy font of the cover text promising Pop excitement. You know you want it…
