CVC 402797 was one of 500 such cars built by NSC for newsprint service in the spring of 1970. These and similar NSC newsprint cars were a familiar sight on North American rails for a generation. This car was photographed at Selkirk NY in May 1982 by Joseph R Quinn. JL Sessa collection.

A trip to Windsor in February 2018 included a walk through the peaceful coach park and a chance to eyeball the visiting coaches. Present were Bus Rios CVC Scania / Higer Touring 0906-JXK visiting the UK from Spain.

Marshall's of Bawtry specialised in dealing in former government vehicles. Seen amongst a number of ex-army Ford Escort Estates awaiting preparation for resale is Daimler Roadliner CVC 124C. Numerically the first Cummins engined Roadliner to be constructed, it was used by Daimler as a test vehicle and demonstrator.

I believe it later passed into the hands of the Road Transport Industry Training Board and thus reached Marshall's via an auction of government surplus.

By coincidence it had bodywork by the entirely separate concern of Marshalls of Cambridge.

Some things never change. On my first visit to Stratford back in 1998 I photographed a P&J Ellis Volvo/Jonckheere on Japanese tour duties, and almost 16 years on they are still doing the same work with the same vehicle type, albeit much more modern.
