This little guy was one of the highlights of my recent trip to Cayo Santa Maria in Cuba. He is a Cuban vireo a bird that is endemic to Cuba. I was hoping to get a shot of him from the side but he just briefly popped out face on and then flew off. Still I had never seen this species before so i was very pleased to get such a clear sighting.

Known popularly as the City of Mills, Puerto Padre has a history dating back into the 16th century. In the mid-19th century (1851), the city began its transformation from a small town into an industrial centre with the construction of its first sugarcane mill. The town played a large role in Cuba's wars of independence.
