A team from the World Agroforestry Centre visited Masongaleni Settlement Scheme on 11th November 2011 as part of the CSR activities.
Masongaleni settlement scheme was established in the late 1980s to settle thecommunity that had been evicted from Chyulu Hills. The area comprises over 4000 households with majority relying on subsistence agriculture for their food needs.

CSR SRI LANKA launched the project ‘’Stakeholder Collaboration for Sustainable Development’’- SCoSD which was awarded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The Project launching ceremony took place on the 31st January 2017 at Ramada in the presence of Ann Marie Yastishock – USAID’S Acting Senior Deputy Assistant Administrator, Bureau for Asia, Dr Andrew Sisson – Mission Director, USAID Sri Lanka and the Maldives, CSR SL members and the Board of Directors, Corporate sector representatives, Officials from the government and civil society representatives.
Under an agreement made with the Municipality of San José, Escuintla in 2017, APM Terminals Quetzal (APMTQ) has invested US$ 500,000 per year in infrastructure, education, health and productivity projects in the community. The first major projects were handed over this year.
