Als ich das Astra Coupe zum ersten Mal sah, war ich hin- und hergerissen. Und das, obwohl der Wagen noch als Rohkarosse in der Werkstatt stand. Aber die Form, die Farbe und die Chromteile signalisierten zu diesem Zeitpunkt bereits, dass es sich um ein ganz besonderes Fahrzeug handelt. Besonders dahingehend, dass dieses Fahrzeug nur einmal auf der Welt existiert.
Auch die Geschichte des Fahrzeugs ist eine ganz besondere: 1952 begann der erst 24 Jahre alte Jay Everett den Wagen zu entwerfen. Bereits ein Jahr später wurde der Wagen das erste Mal gezeigt, noch ohne Astra Emblem. Die offizielle Präsentation des Fahrzeugs erfolgte 1955, dann hörte man Jahrzehnte lang nichts vom Astra Coupe. Erst 2010 wurde der Wagen dann auf unterschiedlichen Auktionen angeboten und gelangte schließlich nach Österreich. Dort wurde der Wagen im Jahr 2014 aufwändig restauriert und erstrahlt nun in neuem Glanz.

Perth Poker Run 2018. Perth Poker Run is a fun charity event open to families with pre 1978 cars, utes, trucks and vans. These photos were taken at Manning Park, West Coast Highway near Trigg Beach, Hillarys Boat Harbour (Northside) and Fremantle.
Metallica vocalist James Hetfield commissioned well-known fabricator Marcel DeLay to construct a custom coupe body for his 1948 Jaguar saloon. Built virtually from scratch, the aluminum and steel body was conceptualized by custom car designer Rick Dore who drew inspiration from the great European coachbuilders of the 1930. Gold trim is used to accentuate the sleek art deco form and the custom cream interior created by Ron Mangus contrasts well with the elegantly dark exterior.
