Als ich das Astra Coupe zum ersten Mal sah, war ich hin- und hergerissen. Und das, obwohl der Wagen noch als Rohkarosse in der Werkstatt stand. Aber die Form, die Farbe und die Chromteile signalisierten zu diesem Zeitpunkt bereits, dass es sich um ein ganz besonderes Fahrzeug handelt. Besonders dahingehend, dass dieses Fahrzeug nur einmal auf der Welt existiert.
Auch die Geschichte des Fahrzeugs ist eine ganz besondere: 1952 begann der erst 24 Jahre alte Jay Everett den Wagen zu entwerfen. Bereits ein Jahr später wurde der Wagen das erste Mal gezeigt, noch ohne Astra Emblem. Die offizielle Präsentation des Fahrzeugs erfolgte 1955, dann hörte man Jahrzehnte lang nichts vom Astra Coupe. Erst 2010 wurde der Wagen dann auf unterschiedlichen Auktionen angeboten und gelangte schließlich nach Österreich. Dort wurde der Wagen im Jahr 2014 aufwändig restauriert und erstrahlt nun in neuem Glanz.
