The C5 was designed from the outset as a sturdy convertible rather than a coupe, that was later weakened by the removal of the roof. The transmission was moved to the rear of the car to form an integrated, rear-mounted transaxle assembly which was connected to the all-new LS1 engine via a torque tube which helped weight distribution. The LS1 engine initially produced 345 hp (257 kW), but that was increased slightly in 2001 to 350 hp (261 kW). The 4L60-E automatic transmission carried on from previous models, but the manual was replaced by a Borg-Warner T-56 6-speed that is capable of propelling the C5 to a top speed of 175 mph (282 kmp)

Gleaming in the sun is this fabulous 1935 Ford Coupe. This is 3 exposures with -1+ stops bracketing, then Photomatix for HDR and tonemapping, and finally Photoshop for the finishing touches.
I've been waiting a while to get an opportunity to photograph this. It's appeared here regularly for a few months now. Must be quite an early Mk2 Coupe.
Not a fan of the wheels personally, but they could be worse I suppose.

Maserati Karif Coupe. A 'Karif' is hot wind over Aden, and this car was a development of the Maserati Spyder built by Zagato. The car is an evolution of the Maserati BiTurbo developed under the DeTomaso ownership. It struggled to sell.

It's funny when you write a Lego book about cars. You have an assumption about which car will be the best, your most favourite. I thought it would be the Bugatti (technically the most complex), the Citroen 2CV (the cutest), the HEMI 'Cuda (the most muscular), or the E-Type (the trickiest).
In the end, it was this 240Z Datsun. It is the least technically complex model in the book for scale. It is orange (always hard to photograph), and difficult to find pieces - hence the black stripe on the side which includes the door hinge.
But there is something about this model - I not sure what - like it was crafted with 'love' - that shines through on a number of the small details.
I love the little pretend engine. I love the little over-riders on the rear bumper. I love the JDM rear view mirrors. I love the little rear antenna and the windscreen wipers.
As was mentioned in one of the reviews - the car is 9-wide, always a recipe for structural disaster - yet the car hold together well. Ye the car is orange, but this lack of part flexibility is not an issue on the 10 or so other colours it can be built in (including period brown).
The car is quite customisable too - I have already done so with the little rear spoiler and the black engine cover. I am hoping someone builds one and fits the wheel covers from the Mclaren 720S model - a pretty good match for the flower petal hubcaps fitted to the 240Z originally.
So - Merry Christmas!!
This is my favourite form the book.
And if you want to build your own, you can get a copy of the book, and hopefully you will love it too.

Another '80s coupe as spotted by MrBenn and one of obvious interest to me. Even the '80s era Audi Coupes are getting rare; I used to see a few about in the first few years of owning my saloon, however I've not seen one in quite a while now. This one looks good, but has been without a MOT for a few years now according to the system.
So subtle it would be easy to overlook, but I bet they're a bit of a sleeper with the V6 engine. Sadly it was parked tight to the fence so I couldn't get a shot of the NSX-esque rear light arrangement.
Another on the list of cars I'd happily own one day.
