Acropora coral garden with Scalefin Anthias (Pseudanthias squamipinnis) and various damselfish (Pomacentridae). Big Broadhurst Reef, Great Barrier Reef
There were vast numbers of coral skeletons on the beach, especially at the tip of the Cape and around the other side in Exmouth Gulf. We hardly saw any on the beaches facing the reef. Maybe to do with the prevailing currents. Also this area is known as Cyclone Alley, so the summer tropical cyclones might break up the corals.

Sights from snorkeling Kahalu'u Beach in Kona. The sky was a bit overcast, so the shooting was a bit tough.
I tried to backlight a coral again. But for a better result I will need a snoot. This will concentrate all the light in the coral and not lighten it up like on this picture. This picture was taken at Thomas reef, Tiran.

Amazing designs in the dead coral seen on the beaches. You can understand why live ones are so beautiful.
Pretty soft corals, opening and closing their tentacles in the current. Xenia sp., I believe.
My new book on photography needs a good publisher!
This is my first attempt to take pictures underwater using point-n-shoot watertight camera. It was rather hard to make an aliged picture, because I not put a camera (nor my feet) on anything solid.
