Lightning in a Bottle 2013 by The Do LaB at Lake Skinner, CA on July 13th, 2013

The Ras-Leela was a mystic dance in which the Gopis partook of their exalted consciousness and brightened vision of Divine communion. Therefore, the love of Gopis was not of this earth, but it was heavenly, pure and transcendental.

The monumental book "Sri Krishna through Mira's Eyes" is a well-researched work on the devotion of Mira.

In this work, the author (Late Shri Raj Behari Lal Mathur - a devotee of Lord Krishna and a connoisseur of Mira's poetry), has seized the spirit of Mira's songs in the different stages of her Sadhana, and especially to reveal the transcendent character of Mira's love for her dear Girdhar Gopal.

The 199 page book, with hard bound cover (see attached Cover- and Back-page photos), excellent black and white paintings on superior quality art paper, depicting many facets of Mira's life imprinted in her devotional songs, is a must for all Krishna-Mira devotees.

Graffiti Consciousness - The Art of Street Politics

Free exhibition @ Pogo Café, Hackney, London - May 2007

Is graffiti mindless?

Whatever you think about graffiti, from tags to major works of art, there are some graffiti artists whose work is often outwardly political and social; sending out a strong, sometimes subtle, message about the state of our society today.

The exhibition features Martin Bull’s black & white photographs of street graffiti and posterings by Banksy, Arofish, Mantis, Jimmy Cauty, El Chivo, Eine, Shepard Fairey, Blek le Rat, Junkerade, & others, as well as accompanying art works by several of the above. Original art on loan includes three from Arofish; a brand new canvas, a stunning 'Eject & Survive on a map of Afghanistan, and a cardboard version of the angel and paratroppers. mantis has done an iNeed on a page of The Financial Times, and I've also got a canvas from Junkerade.

It opened on the 2nd of may, which was also the 4th anniversary of the occupation of Iraq. Only 26,540 civilian deaths in this 4th year- ho hum.....

Photographing this show was AMAZING. Seriously. GROUPLOVE's lighting was out of this world - some of, if not THE, best lighting I've ever worked with. Saints of Valory and The Knocks also put on really fun sets, which was totally unexpected for me and made me really happy to get to photograph. The best part was that although I hadn't been cleared for a portrait shoot or interview, GROUPLOVE let me take a quick portrait of them after their show, and their guitarist gave me quite a long interview, too. I'd HIGHLY recommend checking them out, especially live. They are an absolute BLAST to watch and listen to, and put so much energy into their performance that I sometimes felt out of breath just from watching!

A wild zh3nya in its native habitat. I've been messing with some double exposures this week for fun. I'd never really used the D600 for them before, but this one is very similar to a shot I'd taken on film with the Olympus. The downside to the D600 (and film), is that I can't use the live view like Canon offers. I suppose that adds an element of surprise each time though.

here is an "Out of Order" sign that attempts to teach the users something about their machine relationship. In this case, the machine was functioning, but it required an unusual approach to making it work. Why not post that on the sign, instead of this sign? This is more meta-signage, and a more useful lesson perhaps.

The machine in question was a swimsuit drying spinning contraption, in the USC men's locker room.

Shiva is pure consciousness. He is the Supreme Lord’s greatest bhakta as he is always meditating upon Narayana. Known as the Lord of Destruction, he stands for the dissolution of the mind, which is exactly what we need in order for pure Love to awaken inside the heart. Through his Grace, Shiva destroys our pride and ego so that bhakti can grow in our hearts and we can rise to attain the Lotus Feet of Lord Narayana.

Our Shivaratri celebrations were hosted live from Mauritius with Paramahamsa Vishwananda and Shree Peetha Nilaya - The Ashram. Festivities included several Shiva-lingam abhishekams, yajnas, and beautiful kirtan by Bhakti Marga's devoted and talented musicians.

Matter is the great pool from which the physical body is formed. The life process shapes the body into a specific structure and becomes the pathway for consciousness.

An analogy is the light bulb. It is fashioned from metal, wire and glass. This unique shape will allow light to manifest when the correct voltage is applied. Different wire, different glass, different shape, or different voltage and you get a different light or no light at all. It is the same with our bodies, a very specific shape is necessary for consciousness to manifest. Disrupt that shape and consciousness will no longer be possible.

Food is the "electricity" that powers our bodies, raising our energy to a level where consciousness can manifest. Our need for food, and our body heat, are the simple proofs that we are maintaining this higher energy form. Matter-energy is never destroyed only converted from one form to the other. Disrupt the flow of external energy that we call food, and you will drop below the threshold for consciousness, and if disrupted for long enough, you will become food for the next wave of life. Nothing is wasted in this world.

We possess a survival instinct, a desire to maintain consciousness, a desire to continue our existence at this higher energy level. The only food that will maintain a living being is that which was also once alive, that is to say, highly organized organic matter. The process of digestion reduces the organization of the food to an elemental level and in the process, energy is released to maintain the body. So, in the death of another, we are given life. When we realize that life cannot exist without death, then life and death will not seem to be separate processes but just one process. Paradoxically, duality becomes one. Death is your birthright, and a destiny that will not be denied.

We, the living, like a drop of water that has been splashed into the air, shine, and for a time, tremble with life, knowing our individuality. When that drop of water falls back to the ocean, it still exists, it is still the same water, but loses its individuality as it once again becomes part of the whole. So too, when we give up our life, both the physical body and our conscious energy are dispersed back to the whole to be reassembled into the new lives of tomorrow.

The life process will once again refashion this elemental stew into a myriad of new life forms all designed to produce a continuous steam of consciousness, always unique, never to be exactly repeated. This stream of consciousness seems to be a mandate in this world and if a purpose to this world was to be stated, I believe that we would have to say, it is to produce a never ending stream of unique consciousness. This is the harvest from this earthly garden. Who is the gardener?

Two identical life forms have never been created. Indeed, it cannot happen because the mixture is in constant flux. Time is the ultimate safeguard to prevent exact duplication because even if an identical life form was created, it will always exist in a unique time. Every life form is a one-time event, composed of bits and pieces and thoughts of all of the creatures that went before them. This is why a creature in this world does not carry an individual memory of a previous life when it enters this world at birth. All previous lives are reduced and then reassembled into the present wave of life.

Sit quietly in the woods and observe. You will see the life process in action. The seed places a root into the soil. It accumulated matter from the decaying leaves that went before it. Its physical structure allows it to become self-aware and like you, understand itself as an individual being in this world. And after the summer of its life has passed, the matter that composed its body becomes the food for the next wave of life, raising a new life to its own unique level of consciousness. It is a closed system, circles within circles. Life, begets life, begets life.

Remember that by the nature of mixing, you are different from any other creature that has lived, yet kindred to all things in this world, all from the same pool of energy, all from the same matter, continually in motion, continually conscience. As you grow you accumulate matter / energy and when you die you disperse that same energy back into the world, to be used by the next wave of life. You have this moment in time. Respect the world. It is all that ever was, and all that will ever will be. It is your ancestors and it will be your grandchildren. We are mortal and immortal at the same time. Diversity should be celebrated. Every living being is a work of art.

Known as the Lord of Destruction, he stands for the dissolution of the mind, which is exactly what we need in order for pure Love to awaken inside the heart. Disaster risk reduction is a cross-cutting issue in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Sustainable development will remain elusive so long as disasters continue to wipe out development gains.

The Philippines was fourth in the world among countries hit by the highest number of disasters over the past 20 years, according to the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction with a total of 274 disasters recorded from 1995 to 2015, affecting 130 million people and costing the economy an average of US$150 million.

Climate change and disaster risk reduction go hand-in-hand. The volatility and unpredictability of a changing climate threatens to increase both the frequency and severity of disasters; national and local efforts to adapt to, or mitigate, the effects of climate change must also prepare for possible disaster scenarios.

The Philippine Government over the past decade has focused on strengthening resilience of communities, including ensuring adequate disaster risk reduction finance and investment particularly for local governments, better use of risk transfer strategies such as insurance, harnessing of science, technology and innovation, and building more resilient infrastructure and agriculture.

The United Nations Development Programme and the Australian Government are long-standing partners of the Philippine Government in ensuring a safer, more disaster-resilient Philippines – jointly working on climate change adaptation and mitigation, and helping communities to adapt to, manage and recover from disasters.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Chance Nkosi Gomez known initiated by H.H Swami Jyotirmayanda as Sri Govinda walks an integral yogic path in which photography is the primary creative field of expression. The medium was introduced during sophomore year of high school by educator Dr. Devin Marsh of Robert Morgan Educational Center. Coming into alignment with light, its nature and articulating the camera was the focus during that time. Thereafter while completing a Photographic Technology Degree, the realization of what made an image “striking” came to the foreground of the inner dialogue. These college years brought forth major absorption and reflection as an apprentice to photographer and educator Tony A. Chirinos of Miami Dade College. The process of working towards a singular idea of interest and thus building a series became the heading from here on while the camera aided in cultivating an adherence to the present moment. The viewfinder resembles a doorway to the unified field of consciousness in which line, shape, form, color, value, texture all dissolve. It is here that the yogi is reminded of sat-chit-ananda (the supreme reality as all-pervading; pure consciousness). As of May 2024 Govinda has completed his 300hr yoga teacher training program at Sattva Yoga Academy studying from Master Yogi Anand Mehrotra in Rishikesh, India, Himalayas. This has strengthened his personal Sadhana and allows one to carry and share ancient Vedic Technology leading others in ultimately directing their intellect to bloom into intuition. As awareness and self-realization grows so does the imagery that is all at once divine in the mastery of capturing and controlling light. Over the last seven years he has self-published six photographic books, Follow me i’ll be right behind you (2017), Sonata - Minimal Study (2018), Birds Singing Lies (2018), Rwanda (2019), Where does the body begin? (2019) & Swayam Jyotis (2023). Currently, Govinda is employed at the Leica Store Miami as a camera specialist and starting his journey as a practitioner of yoga ॐ

Dementia represents the gravest challenge to healthcare delivery in the developed world.

Earlier diagnosis is the key as disease-related changes can occur in the brain many years

before the onset of dementia. Dr Dennis Chan, Senior Lecturer in Neurology at Brighton

and Sussex Medical School – a partnership between the Universities of Brighton and

Sussex and the NHS – aims to identify indicators of early Alzheimer’s disease, using MRI

to identify changes in the function of the entorhinal cortex, the first part of the brain to be

affected by Alzheimer’s, and in related brain networks.* The focus is on improving early

diagnosis of the disease and facilitating treatment trials delaying progression to dementia.

Nowadays people of Bangladesh are very conscious about what happening around the whole world. Many of them are unable to afford daily newspaper which is the easiest source of current news. But the thing is some library is providing newspaper by attaching them on wall beside the road so that people from all level of standards can read it for free.
