We had this family to stay at the cottage recently... All three gave me permission to post this shot.
Everyone in this whole family is amazing... it’s the very best having them all as friends.
Some of you may know the little boy.? His Dad won the aeroplane for him at the fair!
I better not go on too much or they’ll be embarrased😂
In all matters of concentration you need to be stealthy and very quick with that long sharp beak if you would like to pull in your next meal.
Pushing on that trigger is like pulling magic into my very soul....Darrell.
Have a safe and fabulous day dear flickr friends.
Thank you to everyone for your visits to my photo-stream....very much appreciated !
A Great Egret concentrates on the water surrounding it trying to spot the small fish below -DSC08538
A Great Blue Heron from my trip to Florida. We have a pair on our pond in WI but you can never get within a hundred yards of them. The ones I came across in Florida were much more approachable. This big bird was catching teeny little fish one right after another. He made up in volume what they lacked in size.
I've been wanting to try this for some time. It's harder than it looks - ducks move very fast, suddenly appearing out of nowhere making focusing very difficult. Can't imagine what it was like before the invention of automatic focus!
Mr Heron was concentrating so hard he didn't take off when I crept up on him today at Marsworth canal, sitting here watching and waiting for the fish to offer themselves to him. Even the pugs who were chugging along quite noisily beside my husband didn't distract him! 😉
I am going to be entering this Image in a few National Photographic Salons in South Africa during 2023.. Sunrise Light at its best and what a subject just 500 metres from our isolated camp site at Rooiputs
Willing these owls more success as they spent most of the day hunting and only witnessing one kill they really do struggle to survive on the marsh in winter
