COmposition Series
Extract from the context volumes, colors and shapes by subjectively creating a new self-sufficient harmony.
Taken at Priddy Pond on the Mendip Hills, Somerset. This composition gives some idea of the flight sequence of the dragonfly.
An Asian barred owlet (Glaucidium cuculoides) was framed resting on a Pine tree branch with a gorgeous looks on offer. Nature with a subject in full attention and a sweet backdrop bokeh - all made this a very very eye pleasing composition indeed. Love the lights and the texture of the tree bark with algae on it and the expression of the Owlet in this background! Pics was taken from Sattal Forest in Uttarakhand, India.
COmposition - the Project
Extract from the context volumes, colors and shapes by subjectively creating a new self-sufficient harmony endowed with a strong aesthetic impact while still retaining the elements of the scene of belonging; from a world a different world is born.
Spent a great weekend in Salzburg, Austria together with my family. Also visited my friend Kurt and we had great fun on Sunday morning! It was a real pleasure chasing the first sun of the day through beautiful Salzburg with him. We also took some pictures... :)

A Vesper Sparrow, with food in the form of a grasshopper, paused briefly at Red Rock Coulee Natural Area south of the city of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. It was presumably on its way to nearby young to sustain, though I did not see a nest. (The small chestnut patch visible at the top of its wing is a diagnostic feature for this species.)

Le Noir mord l'Orange ruisselant sur le Rouge.
Das Schwarz beißt auf der Orange auf dem Rot rinnend.
The water level of the river was quite low, hence the rapids had more quieter parts. Perfect grounds to hunt shots like this.
HAPPY SLIDERS SUNDAY !!
Last Sliders Sunday, I uploaded "Dying on the Vine"
and it proved quite popular. I took THAT photo on 16 October 2023.

Then on 18 December 2023, I took THIS photo of another vine
in a different location. Two months later, its leaves were still beautiful.
The leaves on the other vine were long gone.
With a nod to Bruce Willis and his series of "Die Hard" movies,
my caption here was a natural choice.
Instead of being espaliered, this vine had stuck itself securely
to a white stucco wall. Lovely shade makes it look gray here.
HSS work;
I cropped to 10x8 for composition. For requisite HSS drama,
I did heavy sliding via saturation, dehaze and luminance-sharpening.
Location: Inner front wall, Gottesacker (cemetery), Riehen BS Switzerland.

Un bois, une lumière naturelle transperçant la végétation, sur une zone humide temporaire dûe au forte pluie, durant les derniers mois.
Enfin cela offre de beau reflet, et une jolie composition printanière...

… amid the many storms that surround us. 😊
I find there's something relaxing on the eye when we keep the colour palette simple. Colours really can elicit emotional responses.
Just as taking the noises away rests my ears, so minimizing the colours can rest my eyes … and hopefully my mind too!

I've posted two pictures with thread of orange. The city offers such wonderful compositions. I loved the single glass against the black and orange wall. People drink tea in such small glasses here in Mumbai. Its called " Cutting Chai ", probably because they are cutting down the quantity.
“At last came the golden month of the wild folk-- honey-sweet May, when the birds come back, and the flowers come out, and the air is full of the sunrise scents and songs of the dawning year.”
