Distant companions, a safer option for people these days.

This small copse of trees were the first with any decent stature that I came across on the north west side of Exmoor. No doubt they were once part of a larger woodland protected from the elements although quite why these larger trees come to a grinding halt at this point I could not quite work out. From here on towards the east for many miles the land is quite barren with only a handful of smaller gnarled trees common to higher exposed ground.

Regardless, they gave me what I was looking for, a partial silhouette against the bright reflection of the clouds below.

Thank you for coasting by and bearing with my demi-monoism :)

“Keep a notebook. Travel with it, eat with it, sleep with it. Slap into it every stray thought that flutters up in your brain. Cheap paper is less perishable than gray matter, and lead pencil markings endure longer than memory.” -Jack London

The pages inside this journal are as pretty as the cover. They’re colorful and spark joy!

Rosie has some unique companions in her life. In addition to her monkeys, she has a two headed map turtle named Flora and Fauna that she has befriended. She has presented her at summer circus shows a few years, but winters are quiet times at home.

Blythe a Day - Something Unique - 4/5/25

I made this a few years ago and sealed it with Modge Podge, but it has gotten sticky. Good thing I stored it in a tiny bag so it did not ruin anything else. This is one of my more unique doll crafts.

I'm still not sure what this wildflower is and I won't even hazard a guess as to the type(s) of beetle on it.

I felt like I needed to create this evening, despite feeling not at all good and very tired. So I introduce you to my little chalk friend here. Inspired by Jack Batchelor's photo of a terrified little snail in the rain, I was reminded that... I kinda like snails.

I'm trying to create some much more elaborate concepts in my head at the moment but I must keep shooting in between those.

Our little Jack, the rescue pig, seen here on the right, has been in intensive care for ten days, but is now much improved and well on the way to recovery. During his illness, his loving companion Antipig behaved very sweetly towards him and stayed by his side through the worst of it. She is very happy to have her mealtime friend back again and here they are enjoying some newly picked and precious winter time garden grass.
