we think we walk alone through the city.
a single body moving through space.
but we are never truly alone.
we are accompanied by the silent, faithful shadow of ourselves.
and by the fleeting, intricate ghosts
of the world we pass through.
a tree, a cloud, a memory.
for a brief moment on a sunlit wall,
all the companions walk together.

in other news, this was the longest, most stressful week and i can't believe it's just ending now. we got slammed with another snow storm on wednesday? and i had lots of homework every night and blah blah same old junk. the highlight of my week was probably saturday when i visited my dad during the day and was still able to chill with matt and his awesome family at night. we even ice skated on his driveway!
also, i'm craving spring
happy first week of february!

Poldhu, meaning ‘black pool’ in Cornish, is an unspoilt, sheltered and sandy beach on the popular west coast of the Lizard peninsula. A favourite amongst locals and visitors to the area the beach offers a surf school and cafe as well as dunes and reedbeds rich in wildlife.
Poldhu is perhaps best known for being the site of Guglielmo Marconi's first transatlantic radio message in 1901. A monument and a museum are dedicated to his work at Poldhu Point. The building at the end of the headland was originally the Poldhu Hotel, built to house the workers at the wireless station. It is currently a care home.
As a companion to two previous pictures I am posting two new of the same subjects.
On this artwork I shoot the same tree, from the same window. The difference is - I used CCTV lens Fuijan 25mm f/1.4 with two macro rings on it.
Image straight from the camera, no crop, no colour tweaks - impressive as for such a toy lens, isn't it? :)

The famous Cazneaux Tree on the right and its much less photographed companion on the left. Rarely is this second tree shown, the Cazneaux tree is usually presented as a lone tree on a plain with Wilpena Pound in the background but actually it is near Wilpena Creek with quite a lot of other large and old gum trees, a number of which are larger. Taken with a borrowed Nikon lens, very nice!

This could be our last snow photo of the season, depending on how spring unfolds--April is no stranger to snowstorms in the Ottawa area.
But long-range forecasts for the first two weeks of the coming month see rising temperatures with lots of sunshine and no snow.
So we thought a final look here back to the day after Christmas of 2014 at me and my cousin, Duke, might be a good send-off for winter, and bring us both some luck in getting together again soon for a walk out here on the Prescott-Russell Trail.
Duke, who lives with Dad's daughter, is now eleven, and bothered somewhat by his ailing back legs, but he's strong enough to come back for visits with us when the footing is less dangerous, though our walks will be shorter. We can't wait to see him again!
Go Duke!
The amazing ash tree you see in this photo is a favorite of ours and relatively close to our house. Dad always takes a picture of it when we pass by, and he now has hundreds of examples from all times of the year.
Also, if it looks like I'm as big as a German shepherd here, you must realize that Duke is a shepherd/husky cross, and though looking almost exactly like a shepherd, is really only three quarters the size of a pure bred.
Here is another photo of Duke's 2014 Christmas visit with us we posted earlier: www.flickr.com/photos/130722340@N04/16921754919/in/datepo...

To see me big:-
This was my first typewriter. I got her 6 years ago and something about her reminded me of my mom, so I named her Cinda.
I remember Summer holding on tightly to her flowers as winter drifted over her.

Hi Everyone!
It was nice to see that these two weren't attacking one another! Sometimes these Great-Spangled Fritillaries can be pretty fiesty!
