'Several Yards Apart But Close Enough For Easy Communication By Voice'

In de tentoonstelling Several Yards Apart But Close Enough For Easy Communication By Voice van kunstenaarsduo Kok & Deiman gaat het om het onderzoek naar, het ordenen en herstructuren van bestaande informatie. In deze gezamenlijke solo-tentoonstelling duikt de bezoeker in de ruimtes NULL, PROMO en de tentoonstellingsetalage DISplay in een utopische en absurdistische spelomgeving. Hierin zijn uiteenlopende modellen bijeengebracht op basis van hun merkwaardige geschiedenis; of het zijn modellen van projecten die gefaald zijn; of het zijn modellen die de werkelijkheid op een bizarre manier weergeven. Alle gegevens, modellen en vooral fascinaties, zijn hier op een puur associatieve wijze aan elkaar gelinkt, doordat de kunstenaars vier voor hun belangrijke hoofdlijnen of situaties met elkaar vervlechten tot een nieuw, abstract spel met data en beeldcodes. Wiskundige formules, natuurkundige wetmatigheden en cognitief (associatie)vermogen, voeren op het eerste gezicht de boventoon in deze kleurrijke spelarena. Daarbij wordt juist ook de sculpturale schoonheid van deze objecten en modellen ontvouwen en tarten zij de waarneming(skaders) van het publiek door de obscuriteit van het geheel.

'Demarcation; A Description by R. Brothers'

Tijdens de tentoonstelling krijgt het werk Demarcation; A Description by R. Brothers een centrale rol en gaat het kunstenaarsduo performances realiseren, die rond dit houten spelbord plaatsvinden. Hierbij worden binnen een symmetrisch patroon bestaande uit lijnen en rasters, kleurrijke, abstracte houten blokken, in combinatie met het element geluid, handelingen uitgevoerd. Kok 'speelt' tegen Deiman en veroorzaken zij tijdens de spelprocedure door beweging en verplaatsing van onderdelen onverwachte, mechanische geluiden. Door de performatieve setting, waarin ook de scheidsrechter, de Umpire Maarten Westerveen (presentator/ radio journalist VPRO) ingeschakeld is, wordt de toeschouwer uitgenodigd samenhangen te ontdekken tussen mogelijke patronen, geluiden, strategieën en regels. De toeschouwer kan zijn eigen betekenissen en waarnemingen als het ware ter plekke construeren.

This will be the third iteration of the program, which brings professionals from Eastern Europe and Central Asia to the United States to study topics such as trends and tools in digital communication; the impact of technology on marketing strategies; and social media management. Following the first exchange in 2015, the original participants established the Digital Communication Network as an independent professional association, which has registered over 3,000 members globally and conducted further workshops and events in Moldova, Lithuania, Poland, Armenia, and Ukraine.
