Mia Hamm -- American soccer player. Hamm played many years as a forward for the United States women's national soccer team and was a founding member of the Washington Freedom. Hamm has scored more international goals in her career than any other player, male or female, in the history of U.S. soccer (158).
Harriet Tubman -- African-American abolitionist, humanitarian, and Union spy during the American Civil War. After escaping from slavery, into which she was born, she made thirteen missions to rescue more than 70 slaves using the network of antislavery activists and safe houses known as the Underground Railroad.
Jane Goodall -- British primatologist, ethologist,anthropologist, and UN Messenger of Peace. Considered to be the world's foremost expert on chimpanzees, Goodall is best known for her 45-year study of social and family interactions of wild chimpanzees in Gombe Stream National Park, Tanzania.
Leonardo Da Vinci -- Italian Renaissance polymath:painter, sculptor, architect, musician, scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist and writerwhose genius, perhaps more than that of any other figure, epitomized the Renaissance humanist ideal.
This was when the band performed "Come Together" a fav number of mine.
Michael Jackson has a cover version of this song on his History Album. This version being my fav of this number the bands performance was close to Michael Jacksons version. That pleased me even more. Unfortunately the band finished last. I have no freaking clue why!
So here i'm spreading the fame of the band by posting pictures of them on flickr. Hopefully if someone from St. Xaviers mumbai gets to see these pictures they can let laura and her band know that they have a fan in chennai.

Sinopsi:
Dag estudiava jurisprudència a Addis Abeba, a Etiopia. A causa de la forta repressió política que patia el seu país va decidir emigrar. Durant l’hivern del 2005 travessà per terra el desert entre Sudan i Líbia. A Líbia, però, es va veure immers en una sèrie de problemes lligats amb la violència de la policia de Líbia, responsable d’arrestos indiscriminats i deportacions deshumanes. Supervivent de la trampa líbia, Drag aconsegueix arribar a Itàlia per mar, a Roma, on comença a anar a l’escola d’italià Asinitas Onlus punt de trobada de molts immigrants africans que coordina Marco Carsetti i altres operadors i voluntaris. Dag, a més de l’italià, aprèn el llenguatge del vídeo documental. Amb aquests nous coneixements decideix recollir la memòria dels seus coetanis sobre el terrible viatge a través de Líbia, i provar de trencar l’incomprensible silenci sobre tot el que succeeix al país del Coronel Gadafi.
“Come un uomo sulla terra” és un viatge de dolor i dignitat, a través del qual Dagmawi Yimer aconsegueix donar veu a la memòria del patiment humà. Respecte la qual Itàlia i Europa tenen responsabilitats que no poden restar amagades durant molt més de temps. El documental s’insereix en un projecte d’Archivio delle Memorie Migranti que des del 2006 l’associació Asinitas Onlus , amb centres d’educació i ajut als emigrants (www.asinitas.net), està desenvolupant a Roma en col·laboració amb ZaLab (www.zalab.org) (grup d’autors especialitats en vídeo participatiu i documental social) i amb AAMOD – Archivio Audiovisivo Movimento Operaio e Democratico. Les activitats de la “escola d’italià” Asinitas Onlus són dutes endavant amb la subvenció de la fundació Lettera 27 i de Tavola Valdese. El film ha estat produït per Marco Carsetti i Alessandro Triulzi per Asinitas Onlus i per Andrea Segre per Zalab. S’agraeix la col·laboració en el projecte de Mauro Morbidelli.

Andrea Segre (1976)
Andrea Segre estudia i explica des de fa uns anys les migracions cap a l’Europa i les contradiccions del món desenvolupat: ha escrit i dirigit “Maghera Canale Nord” (2003) seleccionat a la 60 Mostra del Cinema di Venezia, “Che cosa Manca” (2006), produït per Eskimosa i RaiCinema, “La Mal’ombra” (2007- prod. JoleFilm) Premio Avanti! Al 35 Torino Film Festival i “A sud di Lampedusa” (2007- prod.CeSPI- SID) sobre les expulsions dels emigrants africans al desert del Teneré , del que “Come un uomo sulla terra” és en certa manera una continuació.
Dagmawi Yimer (1977)
Diplomat a l’escola anglesa d’Addis Abeba, va freqüentar, durant els primers anys, la Facultat de Jurisprudència, però poc després va decidir emigrar per motius polítics. Després de travessar Líbia va arribar a Lampedusa al juliol de 2006, on va obtenir protecció humanitària. Des del 2007 col·labora com a treballador social i com autor de vídeo amb l’escola d’italià d’Anitas. Ha realitzat un dels episodis del documental “Il deserto e il mare” i alguns curtmetratges de documentació de les activitats de l’escola.
Riccardo Biadene (1973)
Venecià, es va llicenciar en Filosofia a la universitat de Bologna. Després d’alguns anys d’activitat editorial i periodística, ha començat a treballar des de fa quatre anys en l’àmbit cinematogràfic. Després d’uns inicis en la producció, ha realitzat seguidament alguns backstage com a director i és autor de dos guions. Al 2007 va conduir conduir amb Andrea Segre un laboratori d’autonarració audiovisual per refugiats polítics i persones que demanen asil a prop de l’escola d’italià Asinitas, que els va portat a la realització del documental “Il deserto i el mare”

My Aunt showed me the poem "Comes the Dawn" years ago. Then, it applied to the family breaking up. But over the years that followed, we have found ourselves repeatedly rediscovering this poem. With each new situation, we derive different meanings. It has helped us through the passing away of loved ones, breakups, battling personal demons, etc. I have the original printed out copy that she gave me hanging on my wall, and in turn, I have typed her a copy with a background photo of a sunrise that she has framed in her home. The author is unknown.

22 February is the Feast of the Chair of St Peter, which celebrates Peter's ministry as the visible sign of the Church's unity, centred on the Bishop of Rome, his Successor.
This Victorian glass, is from a window dedicated to St Peter in the south chancel aisle of Ely Cathedral. This window is one of my favourites in that cathedral.

One Friday Ewa agreed to come over, once again, so that we could take some photos of her.
I had this idea of putting on her pretty face some slightly more sophisticated make-up. And in some shots emphasize that with lights of different color. How it came out - you say for yourself! :-)
